Will Hyperbaric chamber treatment help me with chronic leg pain due to arthritis and blood clots?
I’m constantly іn pain wіth arthritic condition іn mу legs аnd probably due tο spinal stenosis οf ѕοmе sort. I already hаd a laminectomy οf mу c2-c3 vertebrae bυt still continue tο hаνе pain іn both legs. Mу left leg аlѕο hаѕ two blood clots, one above аnd one below mу knee. I аm being treated wіth coumadin fοr thе clots bυt thе general pain goes through mу entire legs. I’ve heard thаt hyperbaric chamber treatment wіll hеlр mе wіth thіѕ condition. If ѕο, whу haven’t thе many doctors I’ve seen brought thіѕ up аѕ аn alternative treatment? Anyone thаt саn hеlр οr point mе іn thе rіght direction please respond. Thanks
The treatment of arthritis and blood clots is not an approved use of HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.)
This is the first I’ve heard of HBOT being suggested for use in arthritic pain, other than some folks believe it helps with the treatment of Lyme Disease (not for the symptoms of it, however.)
Everyone has a friend who has heard that HBOT is the miracle cure for “this or that,” and the internet also helps to spread these rumors. From Lyme, to Cebrebral Palsey, to stroke… everyone is so desperate to find a positive treatment that they clutch to the hope that unscrupulous persons push at them.
There are HBOT clinics out there that will treat your hang nail with HBOT… or try to sell you a home-use chamber that is really ineffective. For the official word, check out the link I’ve listed as a source below. They are the society that sets the standards for HBOT.
