glucosamine and chondroiton, probly spelled wrong, are good supplements, but as far as pain meds dont give human meds to a dog, buffered aspirin if absolutely neccesarry

Rimadyl is usually the most prescribed medication for this condition in dogs. It is a chewable anti-inflammatory.

Although you will need to visit your vet to get the prescription.

Glucosamine and Condroitin can help over the long term, but will not treat the pain your pet is in now.

There are many glucosamine supplements available from vets and online that will help your dog for the longterm. I use Glycoflex, but there are many others. For the more immediate pain, your vet can prescribe a pain killer such as Rimadyl or Previcox. These can be used as needed for the days than your dog is in alot of pain.
