I’m interested in anything anyone has to say about treating arthritis naturally (specifically, ankylosing spondylitis), but I’d love to hear any stories.

I’m trying to find more info on -

bromelain – expecially if you can extract it from pinapples yourself. Would it have the same effect if you minced up a bunch of pineapple stems? How much bromelain is in one pinapple stem?

Celery, glucosamine, fish oil, magnesium, vitamin e, ginger, pigweed. Are there others I’m missing?

How many treatments a week by a chiropractor is acceptible. My new chiropractor wants 3 a week for 12 weeks for some back arthritis and out of alignment spinal cord.

The dog is a 12 year old purebred Yellow Lab.
Thanks for your advice! I agree with making him comfortable. He has all his food/water elevated. He has a choice of orthopedic beds to rest on. He takes everything at his own pace. I have been using DGP vitamin supplements and the vet recommended Tramadol (sp). He isn’t injured, he is just old. He can’t take Rimadyl because he’s been on potassium bromide for seizures since he was 6 months old. Thanks, again for sharing!!!

I take an NSAID (prescription strength Alleve also known as Naproxen twice a day in a 500 mg. pill). Also I take another pain pill twice a day that is not a narcotic twice a day, and extra strength Tylenol every 4 hours – maybe 2 or 3 times a day. I take hot showers at least 2 to 3 times a day. I’m going to start walking as the weather here in New England is finally warming up, and I’m joining a gym as soon as I can afford it they’re all expensive in my town, one has a pool and it is really a lot to join. I plan to start yoga lessons as soon as I can to help too. What else can I do? This winter was bad – I got diagnosed at 19, it was bad for about 4 years after that – since last August it has been flaring up. I’m going to be 46 at the end of June any help would be appreciated… I have a rare form – it is not RA fortunately as I know how debilitating that can be. I take cod liver oil for Vitamin D to strengthen my bones too and Omega 3 capsules daily too along with Glucosamine….

Given my job, resting my hands is not a realistic option, but I was wondering if anyone had experience with the use of braces or arthritis gloves along with the recommended NSAIDs for the treatment of this problem.

I just had an MRI done because I’ve had ALOT of pain in my back and legs. They said I had arthritis on my spine. I have a preexisting cond. (transverse myelitis) so, I have to take alot of pain meds now (loritab,Ms Contin). Does anyone have arthritis that takes meds that actually work?! PLEASE any help would be helpful…Thank you
As far as the epidural that was mentioned, how often would those treatments be? Do they work effectively?
