Can a doberman have osteoarthritis in puppyhood? What are its symptoms? Actually, 20 days back my dobe had his ear cropped and he was give antibiotic shots everday for 4 days. It made his hind legs very sore. Since, then he has improved a lot but not completely. Today I was going through some text about osteoarthritis and found the symptoms very similar with my dobes’. Help

I’ve taken her to two vets today. One said she was “faking,” another said it was just arthritis. I can’t imagine arthritis shows up overnight in a two year old dog.

She is generally anxious. Afraid of leashes, men, property lines, doorways, etc. She acts like a big puppy all of the time except for yesterday and today.

She is generally an outside dog by choice, but lately after a lot of storms she became incredibly afraid of the night and has to be brought in more often (it used to be she would refuse to come inside at night).
Last night I sent her out to potty, she didn’t want to and laid down next to the door to wait for me. That’s not like her, but I thought maybe she was calming down.
This morning she was let out at about 6am and I woke up at 10am to feed her and the other. I noticed she wasn’t jumping on me like she usually does, wasn’t following me, wasn’t even getting up. I thought maybe it was just hot and put some ice in her water bowl and filled it up.
Within an hour, I went back outside to check on her again and this time I noticed she was having a difficult time getting up and walking. When I asked her to ’sit’ she would stop and slowly lay her bottom down, unlike the quick response I usually get. She showed a limp and I immediately became concerned.

Two vets can’t tell me anything. I’m not sure what to ASK at another office about what it could be or what she should be tested for, because going on this they “think” it’s just arthritis, but didn’t tell me anything else.
My regular vet has five different doctors. The one I trusted is retired now and his children took over. The other vet I took her to was the last one in town with a good reputation. No blood work was drawn, and there are no cuts.

I am 17 years old and have suffered with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis my whole entire life. When I was about 8 they prescribed me Methotrexate but my mother was too afraid to give it to me. Since then my Arthritis sort of went into remission, but in the past year or two it has come back worse then ever. In my back, elbow everything. I have always had it in my knee and it is now worn down to nothing. I have gained quite some weight since I can stand up 15 minutes, much less exercise and I was wondering if Methotrexate would make me lose any.

Please help…Dr.’s are not! I can’t work!

Ok, and also, I am going to a rheumotologist [pardon spelling] and a dermotologist [also, pardon] sometime in the future, though its been hard to get an appointment. I’m asking because im slightly a hypochondriact and i like to label everything thats wrong with me. Now, this has been going on constantly for about a year and a half, so its not in my head! Thanks for all the help so far =)
one more thing- yeah, I’m only 14 and i have to wait till im like 30 ,i’m going to crack. and i know for sure i dont have psoriasis, because my mom has it and mine isn’t at all like her’s. but thanks

I have been on Hyzaar for 2 weeks these things are new since I started. My back hurts on both sides, my legs are jumpy especially at night, my fingers and toes where I have arthritis starting is much worse. I went to the store yesterday and felt like my arms were so heavy and I was exhausted. I do need to get my blood pressure down and am going back to the doctor today. I hate to keep changing BP meds….. Oh, and I am drinking enough water and am taking Kdur 20 meq once a day. Thats all the meds I take. Any suggestions?

My sheepdog is six and I got him as a rescue two months ago, he has next to no muscle mass on his legs and requires that someone helps him to get up from laying down, I had him x-rayed at the vet and they said he has arthritis in his back, he weighs 77# but should weigh more like 90+#, he also leaks pee now and again, what could be wrong with him ? or is the problem arthritis, would that cause the loss of muscle ?
he was like that when I got him, as a foster dog, but he was deemed non-adoptable so I kept him. I wont let him be euthanized as the told me that was the only option, our family loves him too much.

My cat is losing tufts of hair around his neck. Has arthritis and his little front legs sometimes shake. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain. I give him anything he wants…if he wants to be held, I do it. I have had him longer than my husband and children. Any idea on the hair tufts?
