So I have a lot of medical problems juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, anemia, possible MS, and just really bad luck (I have been in god knows how many casts). Also now I probably have this thing called RSD witch I am suppose to see a therapist for it because it is having really bad pain all the time and having therapist to talk to about it can help (I haven’t been diagnosed with it yet but we are in the process of it and there is like a 90% chance I have it). The reason my parents sent me to a therapist (other than cause the medical problems) is because in October 2009 my grandma died (she was my favorite person in the world) and from that point on I would get these times where I would just go ballistic on people and just wasn’t being me. So now I have been seeing a therapist for a year and I am fine now. It is just a waist of time because I don’t need anyone to talk to things about. It is just a waist of time I can cope fine by myself. So how can I convince my parents to not make me see a therapist especially if I do get diagnosed with RSD? Also if it makes a difference I am 14 (15 in less than a month) and a girl.
I have already tried to tell them I am fine but they keep saying I have to go and see the therapist.

im 15 and I seem to have a really bad habit of constantly cracking joints and bones..like my toes, fingers, and back. i am trying to stop but its soo hard. i start to feel sort of stiff and tense when i haven’t cracked one of many things for a while and once i do, it’s just a huge relief. ive heard of this increasing risks for like arthritis and stuff but then i hear that that’s a lie. soo honestly, will it or will it not cause issues in my future. my moms chiropractor says that ‘its very bad and i should start working with her as a chiropractor’ ..which could be true oooor it could be a money grab. apparently there are excersises that people like me can do that should help.
soo my questions are is it really gonna hurt me?
and
what can i do to stop?
it would be nice to hear from people with experience also. if you aren’t a cracking addict it’s hard to imagine why it is so addicting.
:O
THANKYOU!

1. Cow’s milk is intended for baby cows. We’re the only species (other than those we are domesticating) that drinks milk after infancy. And, we’re definitely the only ones drinking the milk of a different species.

2. Hormones. Not only are the naturally present hormones in cow’s milk stronger than human hormones, the animals are routinely given steroids and other hormones to plump them up and increase milk production. These hormones can negatively impact humans’ delicate hormonal balance.

3. Most cows are fed inappropriate food. Commercial feed for cows contains all sorts of ingredients that include: genetically modified (GM) corn, GM soy, animal products, chicken manure, cottonseed, pesticides, and antibiotics.

4. Dairy products, when metabolized, are acid-forming. Our bodies are constantly striving for biochemical balance to keep our blood at 7.365 pH. Eating excessive acid-forming products can cause our bodies to overuse some of its acid-balancing mechanisms, one of which is the bones. Alkaline calcium is stored in the bones and released to combat excessive acidity in the body. Over time, bones can become fragile.

5. Research shows that the countries whose citizens consume the most dairy products have the HIGHEST incidence of osteoporosis.

6. Most dairy cows live in confined, inhumane conditions, never seeing the pastures of green grass they were intended to eat.

7. Most dairy products are pasteurized to kill potentially-harmful bacteria. During the pasteurization process, vitamins, proteins, and enzymes are destroyed. Enzymes assist with the digestion process. When they are destroyed through pasteurization, milk becomes harder to digest, therefore putting a strain on our bodies’ enzyme systems.

8. Dairy products are mucous-forming. They can contribute to respiratory disorders. When I remove dairy and sugar from the diets of my clients, they stop experiencing hay fever and seasonal allergies.

9. Research links dairy products with arthritis. In one study on rabbits, scientist Richard Panush was able to PRODUCE inflamed joints in the animals by switching their water to milk. In another study, scientists observed more than a 50% reduction in the pain and swelling of arthritis when participants eliminated milk and dairy products from their diet.

10. Most milk is homogenized, which denatures the milk’s proteins, making it harder to digest. Many peoples’ bodies react to these proteins as though they are “foreign invaders” causing their immune systems to overreact. Research also links homogenized milk to heart disease.

11. Pesticides in cow feed find their way into milk and dairy products that we consume.

http://green.yahoo.com/blog/care2/32/11-reasons-to-stop-eating-dairy.html

Phil, Where did you get your ”research?” Was it from research studies funded and conducted by Monsanto and Monsanto scientists? Every paper claiming the synthetic bovine hormone is ”safe” is industry research.
Phil, you get an “F.”
The maximum-calcium-retention studies of milk’s calcium are short term and therefore have important limitations. To detect how the body adapts to different calcium intakes over a long period of time—and to get the big picture of overall bone strength—requires studies of longer duration.

The results from such long-term studies may be surprising to some. While they do not question the importance of calcium in maximizing bone strength, they cast doubt on the value of consuming the large amounts currently recommended for adults.
Recommendations by the National Academy of Sciences are based on very short-term studies, and are likely to be higher than what people really need. Currently, there’s no good evidence that consuming more than one serving of milk per day in addition to a reasonable diet (which typically provides about 300 milligrams of calcium per day from nondairy sources) will reduce fracture risk.
Studies to this day suggest that high calcium intake doe
doesn’t actually appear to lower a person’s risk for osteoporosis.
Because of unresolved concerns about the risk of ovarian and prostate cancer, it may be prudent to avoid higher intakes of dairy products.

http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/calcium-full-story/index.html#bottom-line

In clinical, longitudinal, retrospective, and cross-sectional studies, neither increased consumption of dairy products, specifically, nor total dietary calcium consumption has shown even a modestly consistent benefit for child or young adult bone health.
Scant evidence supports the claim the intake of dairy product promotes child and adolescent bone mineralization.

I have a Golden retriever dog who is 12 and has arthritis. My vet tells me he needs to lose weight and I have explained this to my neighbours and asked them to stop feeding him tidbits. My neighbours think he is too thin but I have asked the vet and the vet said he is definitely NOT too thin and does need to lose a little weight. I think they think I am cruel for not giving him treats and only feeding him dry dog food. The dry dog food I feed him is very expensive Hills JD food specifically for arthritis. My neighbours do not understand this and think only one biscuit won’t harm and keep feeding him over the fence. I don’t want to fall out with them so I was thinking of making up a medical problem which means he really can only eat his proper dog food. I was thinking of something like diabetes but apparently all dogs with diabetes need insulin and as they look after him from time to time they will know he doesn’t have insulin. So… can anyone think of a believable white lie to get them to stop feeding him? I have tried explaining that his weight makes his arthritis worse and that the vet has said all the drugs and treatments in the world won’t do as much good as keeping his weight down. The problem is I just don’t think they believe that the odd biscuit makes much difference.

I am in severe pain from a nerve disorder and arthritis and I also have to start radiation treatments, but my daughter refuses to stop nursing. She eats normal food and also drinks some, but she nurses to comfort herself and also to fall asleep. I have tried the binky and also giving her more milk from her sippy cup (she hates bottles) but she still wont stop nursing and will scream bloody murder and nothing but the nippy can go in her mouth? What suggestions other than her screaming for hours would anyone who has been in this position suggest? I never had to force my other two off, but I’m ill now so it needs to be done so I wont be crying in pain everyday. Help please and thank you!
She is one this week, I nursed the other 2 until a year and a half
I have to wean her by next week, my treatments start then and Id like to start my medications and my Dr already told me I had to wean her due to the medication he prescribed and I know I am bigger lol, but its a bond that I dislike breaking but I know it has to be done, just trying to find the gentlest way and my other two weaned themselves, I didn’t have to do anything they just stopped wanting to nurse.
thanks for the link, but it didnt have the info related to my needs
