I have a Golden retriever dog who is 12 and has arthritis. My vet tells me he needs to lose weight and I have explained this to my neighbours and asked them to stop feeding him tidbits. My neighbours think he is too thin but I have asked the vet and the vet said he is definitely NOT too thin and does need to lose a little weight. I think they think I am cruel for not giving him treats and only feeding him dry dog food. The dry dog food I feed him is very expensive Hills JD food specifically for arthritis. My neighbours do not understand this and think only one biscuit won’t harm and keep feeding him over the fence. I don’t want to fall out with them so I was thinking of making up a medical problem which means he really can only eat his proper dog food. I was thinking of something like diabetes but apparently all dogs with diabetes need insulin and as they look after him from time to time they will know he doesn’t have insulin. So… can anyone think of a believable white lie to get them to stop feeding him? I have tried explaining that his weight makes his arthritis worse and that the vet has said all the drugs and treatments in the world won’t do as much good as keeping his weight down. The problem is I just don’t think they believe that the odd biscuit makes much difference.
I am in severe pain from a nerve disorder and arthritis and I also have to start radiation treatments, but my daughter refuses to stop nursing. She eats normal food and also drinks some, but she nurses to comfort herself and also to fall asleep. I have tried the binky and also giving her more milk from her sippy cup (she hates bottles) but she still wont stop nursing and will scream bloody murder and nothing but the nippy can go in her mouth? What suggestions other than her screaming for hours would anyone who has been in this position suggest? I never had to force my other two off, but I’m ill now so it needs to be done so I wont be crying in pain everyday. Help please and thank you!
She is one this week, I nursed the other 2 until a year and a half
I have to wean her by next week, my treatments start then and Id like to start my medications and my Dr already told me I had to wean her due to the medication he prescribed and I know I am bigger lol, but its a bond that I dislike breaking but I know it has to be done, just trying to find the gentlest way and my other two weaned themselves, I didn’t have to do anything they just stopped wanting to nurse.
thanks for the link, but it didnt have the info related to my needs
She has a arthritis and they are making her fat.
ive been cracking my knuckles for about 2 years now and my neck for about a year. I know that the cracking of bones does NOT cause arthritis but it DOES increase your chances of getitng it. i play guitar and i reli dont want to get arthritis when i grow up but i just cant stop doin it!!
Also i get sore necks every now and then but now i get them very often and damn they hurt!!
i dont wanna end up on a wheelchair either!!
plz help!!! Is there some kind of home-made treatment or do i need to see a doctor?
i love my dog to death. i mean really to death. i am so attached to him. he is so smart and loves me. however, since he is old (just turned 11 in November) and has cushings disease and arthritis, all i ever do (daily) is think how much time i will have left with him. i count the possibilities (years) and figure how old i will be at the time he passes and how can i go on when i will only be about 20 at that time. this is crazy but i just can’t stop thinking about it. how can i stop worrying about this?
thanks
I’m 27, and have arthritis in my between my neck discs. My question is whether this will one day stop? It is a very unfortunate pain to have almost everyday at this age.

I have osteoarthritis in my feet and hands. It is often times painful and seems to be getting more painful and prevalent everyday. In fact, I can tell my range of motion has become less especially in my feet. I am wondering if there are any nutritional supplements that will aid in slowing down the progression?
The larger one is 12 years old and should weigh about 5 or 6 pounds and the smaller one 3 or 4 pounds – he will be 12 years old next April. They both were neutered several years ago .Their diet is a couple of hand fulls of kibble, low fat for older dogs Early in the morning. Their one full meal is chicken with no seasooning boiled in just water. When done we pull the mean off the bone and reserve the chicken broth. We also cook plain white rice. We combine the rice, chicken, a sprinkling of kibble and pour some of the chicken broth over it all,,,,,as most Yorkies they have lost a lot of teeth which is why we soften up the kibble. About 5 in the afternoon they get another handful of kibble. They get no doggie treats or people food. To them the kibble is their treat. One has arthritis in his spine and the other has a problem in his knee so long walks or runs are out of the question. Other than what we are already doing, is there something else we could do to get them back to their previous weights.
Well i am 15 and have had problems with my feet for so many years, i couldn’t wear normal shoes without them hurting, and when i wore trainers for school the teachers would shout at me, i would then wear normal shoes which made lumps come on the outsides of my toes. It all came too much and i begged my mum to take me to the doctors and he said they were bunions and told me to see a podiatrist, then over 14 weeks ago i saw him and he was doing loads of tests on my feet, legs, arms, hips, shoulders, neck and back. He said my left leg was shorter than the other and he also said this is a for of arthritis and if i don’t get my feet sorted to now further down the line i will have a lot of pain and need a new hip. He also said my feet were flat and something needs stretching in my leg so he showed me some ways i could stretch my legs which i started doing and still do twice a day now, he took casts of my feet and 6 weeks later i was given some insoles which would correct my feet and they wont be flat no more, when i finally got the insoles i was able to wear them all day after about 2 weeks only the right one would hurt. Then i started getting pains in the outside of my knees and the top of my back would hurt whilst doing simple jobs like making my bed, i went back to him a few days ago and i told him about the pains and he said that the insoles were too big to start off with and he then said he will get me some other ones, he also gave me some cushion thing to put in my left shoe to make my left leg longer. Iv been to town with my nana today and i had the cushion thing in, the right foot feels alot more painful and it hurts to wear the insole in the right shoe, then left leg isnt that bad. My back is very painful and it hurt to walk, iv just come home and lay down and my back still hurts to lie down. I have taken pills a few hours ago but that only cured my head ache.
My back, neck, arms, legs and feet hurt… how do i stop it?
Sorry for it being so long, i just wanted to include as much detail as i could so you could help me better.
Your just a bitch, what is the problem with people who are over weight, they are still human, if you cant be nice then go die you waiste of space!
Well the doctor said that instead of the shoes now, they add things into your normal shoes. Which is the insoles and soon i will have insoles which include the thing to make my left leg longer. I dont think there is any rush because its been like that the whole of my life.
My mum has really bad Arthritis in her wrists and any little movement she does really hurts her. Even worse, she works as a dinnerlady so she is constantly chopping and using her hands, I tried to tell her that she should work somewhere else but she loves her job and all of her friends work there too.
I hate seeing her in so much pain when she come home =[
Anyone know anything that will help?
