I have been letting him swim with a life jacket but it is getting to be to cold for that now. Can exercise help arthritis? I am particularly concerned because I will be living on the second floor untill spring so he must use stairs about 3x a day.

Occasionally one or two of my fingers will swell up, and cause a lot of pain. Right now, it’s the pointer on my left hand. It’s usually one finger at a time, but sometimes it’ll be two. It goes back and forth between my right and left hands, and is completely unpredictable. Sometimes it’s only slightly swollen, and causes mild-moderate pain, other times its swelled up so big that I can’t move it and causes extreme pain. It happens out of nowhere. Sometimes it’ll happen twice in one month, sometimes it won’t happen for 6 months.

I showed my doctor a couple of years ago, and he had no idea. He’s not some good-for-nothin’ doctor, either- he’s the best doctor I have ever had. He even brought in another doctor to have a look and he had no idea either.

I guess I’m wondering if anyone out there in the [internet] world has a similar problem. Does anybody have an idea what this is?

I guess I should mention that I’m not a little old lady; I’m a 26 year old white male, I work in construction, I play the guitar (for fun), I am on buprenorphine for opiate problems (I was also on opiates when this problem started about 3 years ago), I don’t drink alcohol very often, I tend to stay pretty well hydrated, my diet isn’t great, but it’s certainly not terrible (I eat my fruits and veggies, and I don’t eat meat- other than fish).

Any ideas? Thanks.

Any advice?
I’m not really looking for a drug at the moment- I’d rather go for preventative methods.
