Both my knees are swelled up b/c of psoriatic arthritis. Which means I can only walk for like an hour. I can keep walking, but the pain increases, with stiffness and swelling – but i NEED this job. Am I going to destroy my knee joints by working at this place?
I had another open question but people obviously got the wrong idea.
My chihuahua is twelve now, and he’s nearing the end of his lifetime. He used to have multiple problems like his bones have been progressively getting worse. He has arthritis (we have to give him the “elevator treatment” if he wants up on a couch, we sometimes have to lift him even to get in the doorway, and we were forced to change our steps outside to a ramp for him.)
Almost all of his teeth are in bad shape, either rotting or dulled down. Just last month my dad had to gently tug out one of his loose teeth which was rotten. He’s gotten infections that swelled the upper part of his head/eye, in the sinus region, which obviously hurt. (He hasn’t had one since that tooth was removed, so that problem is fixed for now.) Since that 1 bad tooth was removed he hasn’t been whining or seeming at all in pain about his teeth anymore. Although he doesn’t like to eat hard dogfood anymore, and lately he’s been so stingy about his eating that now we even have to put soft dog food chucks on a toothpick and hand feed him. He only eats about half a cup of food a day, but I suppose thats all he needs because he’s eaten that way for about a month now.
About 2 weeks ago, his right eye started closing a little bit when he’d just be sitting there. We didn’t think much of it. Just yesterday his right eye was completely closed — now he’s back to normal, he just looks a little sleepy. He doesn’t seem to have anything in his eye. When we touch it or rub his face, he seems to enjoy it, so it isn’t anything painful. I made a video of him of him and my other dog, if you wanted to see his eye better. It shows a shot of his mouth and his eye up close.

We’ve had him all of his life, so it’s hard for us to even think about putting him down anytime soon. He’s not in any obvious pain now so there’s no definite need. He is an old dog, so we’re not sure how far to push him to live on. He’s happy right now, though, he still is alert and has love in his eyes. He doesn’t seem to be stressed/sad/sick at all, despite his previous problems.
We cannot take him to one of those expensive vets – I’m fifteen, my parents are going through a custody battle and my dad can barely afford the bare minimum. We are not willing to give him up, and he’s not in an extreme condition enough to put him down. I am wondering how farther do you think he would live?
ALSO, people on my previous question were saying things like “oh my god if I were your neighbor I would report you for animal abuse and get him put down ASAP!” and crap like that. Yahoo! answers is not a place to be rude or the meanest you possibly can. its to help others find answers.
Does this seem like animal abuse? I’ve seen those animal cop shows on television and they aren’t anything like our situation. He’s no longer in pain from his tooth and only has arthritis, but multiple people said the words “abuse” because we couldn’t bring him ASAP to a vet. >_<;
My elderly Rottweiler has something wrong with her ear. I can tell it’s really painful because when I touched it, she bared her teeth at me, something she’s never done before. I can’t get into the vet until Tuesday. Is there anything I can do for her until then, or should I just leave her alone?
Also, she is on Tramadol (morphine) for her arthritis, will that help with the pain in her ear?
I have been worried about my Chihuahua Smoky’s health for some time now. He’s about twelve years old now, and he’s getting close to the end.. its pretty apparent. We’ve had him all of his life, so it’s hard for us to even think about putting him down anytime soon. He’s not in any obvious pain now so there’s no definite need.
However, his bones have been progressively getting worse. He has severe arthritis (we have to give him the “elevator treatment” if he wants up on a couch, we sometimes have to lift him even to get in the doorway, and we were forced to change our steps outside to a ramp for him.) Is there any medication for arthritis thats fairly cheap, or will we be forced to be his maids?
Also, in the previous months his teeth have been hurting him. He grew up with us always giving him scraps of people food and we never did anything about his dental care, so its no question why his teeth are the way they are. Almost all of his teeth are destroyed, either rotting or about to. Just last month my dad had to pull out one of his loose teeth. He’s gotten infections that swelled the upper part of his head/eye, in the sinus region, which obviously hurt. Since that 1 bad tooth was removed he hasn’t been whining or seeming at all in pain about his teeth anymore.
Now it’s almost always closed, and even when we try to open the lids ourselves they don’t open very much. He doesn’t seem to have anything in his eye. Could there be a sinus infection below his eye? When we touch it or rub his face, he seems to enjoy it, so it isn’t like a painful infection. He doesn’t rub it much either. Should we worry about his almost-closed eye?
We’re not sure on what to do on all of these subjects. Sorry this was so long, but we’re curious. Do you think he should be put down if all of this progresses?

Thank you for your time. ![]()
We cannot take him to a vet if we have to pay bills, end of story.
I know it sucks, I’m only 15, but my parents are going through a custody battle and blahblah so my dad can’t make any spare money to go towards anything fun. Only just the bare minimum. ![]()
Um. Reported and blocked 2 people for their nasty remarks.
MY DOG IS NOT IN SEVERE PAIN RIGHT NOW – he was, that was fixed. No, my dad is not yank his tooth out. My dogs tooth was barely hanging in there so he removed it as gently as he could. A vet would do the same thing. There is not an infection there, we already made sure he wouldn’t get one there. Just because my dog has a couple problems now doesn’t mean he’s doomed for life and we’re horrible owners because we didn’t brush his teeth twice a day. He’s an old dog and thats it. I was just looking for others opinions on how long he should stay on Earth – I wasn’t looking for your discusting remarks.
I enjoy Karate, I’ve only been going one month ( twice a week) but since going I now have hip pain which makes it painful to sit for long periods of time and when I get up from sitting I can just about move. I thought exercise was suppose to be good for you.
I’m starting a kids camp and want a horse that is extreamly mellow. Looks like I’ve found one. He’s an old race horse that injured his fetlock in front foot. According to the owner, this has perfectly healed. He has developed some arthritis in his back legs and can’t run and shouldn’t be rode by anyone more than 150 pounds. However, he is the sweatest horse in the world and I think he’d be great around kids. I want to indroduce young kids to horses, and a horse like him would be wonderful since he’s as soft and sweat as a puppy dog. I have no reason not to belive the owner, and the owner says the horse needs no medication. Since I’d like to use him for young kids, I’m thinking he’d be perfect. Except of course, if he’s going to cost me thousands of dollars down the road because of his arthitis. So my question is, should I buy a horse that has 2 bad legs. And if I do, what is the worst case scenario? How bad can arthritis get? Help!
I just wanted to add that the horse isn’t old at all, he’s only 8 and is so so nice. And if you’re going to leave me an answer, please elaborate….oh man you should is meaningless!
17 year girl has been given inj. penidura-la prophylactically , having ASO titre>300 and sever joint pain before 1 year but not a single cardiac symptom or sign , echo findings absolutely clear.
My dog is 12 years old going on 13. I adopted her from the pound when she was 8 weeks old. She is the sweetest dog very gentle, she is a big dog so has hip displaysia and arthritis. She walks very slow and can hardly get in the car when I have to take her to the vet. She takes Glucosamine and special food for her bones also she has had medical treatment for the arthritis earlier this year. Now she has developed a tumor and the vet told me to operate to remove but says may be cancerous and also tumor may come back. I have been told that 12 years for a big dog is good. But she eats, wags her tail, and responds to me and anyone who is in my house. But at the same time, she can hardly walk and when she does takes 3 very slooooow steps then stops and looks at me. I don’t know if she is in pain. And my friends and co-workers say I should put her down. I am not sure what I should do. I want to know of anyone who has gone through this with a big dog…. (she is a mix of lab & pit-bull) thanks for your help….
I know this guy that has real bad arthritis and he drinks ginger root tea and he said it took most of his pain and aloud him to get around a lot better. Is their and ginger root capsules that will do the same.
I’m 26 years old and my knees are very bad. They don’t hurt at all, but every move I make I hear cracking. Specially when I bend my knees, its when I hear it the most. I’m concerned about arthritis in my future, what should I do know to minimize my symptoms?
