My husband is a carpenter and fell off a roof when he was younger, breaking his back, cracking his skull and shattering the bones in his face, requiring constructive surgery.

He now suffers from severe headaches amd arthritis, which he believes is related to this accident, and his symptoms have progressively worsened over the years. Arthritis also runs in his family. The arthritis in his back even showed up in an x-ray that was done on him when he was in a car accident a few years ago.

He applied for disability, they sent him to a doctor, and all she did, other the regular checkup routine, was make him bend in odd positions, touch his toes, walk in a straight line with one foot in front of the other, etc. She had supposedly reviewed his medical records from the accident also.

A few weeks after that he got a letter saying he had been denied. What should be our next step? Would it be worth it to consult a lawyer?

Any input or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

My dog is an English Pointer who is 12 years-old. She is a healthy dog, but has had arthritis for the past year. Lately she has been having difficulty getting up and sitting down. She has also been getting tired a lot quicker when I walk her.

Every time she tries to stand up her hind legs give out and she falls. My parents can’t afford to taker her to the vet… what can I do for her?!
It’s not my fault! I am a teenager and don’t have any money. We’re about to lose our house as it is. It’s my parents who I need to convince…

Over the past few months, I’ve been having a reoccuring pain in my right hand. It stems from the base of my thumb, where it meets the bone of my index finger. It will often fade for a few weeks, then start up again, often when I do something that involves my thumb on that finger, such as playing my cello for extended periods of time.

I’m only sixteen, so I don’t believe it’s arthritis. I also looked up the symptoms, and it doesn’t sound like arthritis either. I feel pain while lifting things, holding things, and also if I lean on my hand. If I try to roll my wrist around, it hurts. I also feel pain when moving my thumb into some positions.

My mother has been convinced it’s just a tendon that needs to be stretched, and has refused to take me to see a doctor. However, now I’ve started to feel pain across the other areas where my fingers meet my wrist, and she says we’ll ask about it at my next physical, which may be up to a month from now, depending on when she can get an appoinment.

I would just like to know what this possibly could be, and if I should be concerned about it. Can it wait until a month? Or should I see a doctor now?

He took zero medical history, only filled out form with name and address and insurance. No assistant took any medical history.

I was told I have eczema..I broke out in an extremely itchy rash on my calves after remodeling. He concurred it was probably an allergy (to the dust or possible mold stirred up) that went to eczema.

Natural treatments I tried did not help. I want to get rid of it as it is unsightly and itchy but I am worried about potential problems.

He ordered a steroid cream (betamethasone dip aug .05% cream) for 6 weeks. He said it would be a lot better in a week but if I discontinued it before 6 weeks, it may come back.

I have just been told I may have high blood pressure, I had a fasting blood sugar of 151 (but ai c was 5.9)..this means I am prediabetic they said, Also I have developed severe gout and have arthritis. I am also clinically depressed and long felt I had adrenal insufficiency due to high stress for 20 years and symptoms of this.

I read this steroid cream
cream can cause blood glucose to raise and be not advised to take if one has high blood pressure or diabetes. Also it interferes by increasing inflammation which may hurt my gout/arthritis and can exacerbate depression. It causes weight gain and redistribution of weight (in a bad way). If used more than a week, it can cause the adrenal glands to shrink and may cause a rebound effect if not gradually tapered off. It takes the adrenals about 3 months to start working right again and producing its hormones (I think cortisol).

I have a phobia about medicines and almost never take them but I am afraid this eczema rash on both legs will never leave if I don’t use it, I am angry this doctor did not ask me one medical question or get any medical history. I recently was forced into an HMO) and he is the only doctor I see who is an approved dermatologist. The office was packed and I was only with the doctor about 4 minutes..It was fast for everyone it looked like. I am used to doctors
who spend 15-30 minutes with me and they always take a history..I am unsure if I should take it. Do you feel it would be safe? Would he have prescribed it if it was dangerous with certain medical conditions? Does anyone have any experience with taking a steroid cream like this.
I have had this rash since December several problems getting in sooner and two doctors didn’t know what it was, but they were not specialist like this doctor who took no history and glanced at the rash a minute.

Here is a little background! I have 5 slipped discs – each have their own problem but here are the main things….I have arthritis in 4 of them, 1 of them has an annular tear plus I have mild scoliosis. My primary care physician had me on Lortab 7.5mg 2x’s / day – which is only helping some but could use better relief obviously. I was sent to a pain management specialist and had my appointment today where I had filled the new patient paperwork, etc.

The PA came back and examined me and went over my paperwork doing the usual routine then the Dr. came in. We discussed my problems, treatments such as epidural injections, physical therapy and medications. He had stated that I would need to submit a urine specimen before he could start me on any medication which was completely fine. When we’re finished talking, he leaves and a Nurse comes in, gives me the cup and shows me where the bathroom is, I get it taken care of, give it to the Nurse and go back to the room. The PA came in with the Physical Therapy form to take to any place

I’m 17, I am not very active but I would consider myself active as I do walk a total of a mile everyday to and from school. I do weightlifting every other day and other exercises. Last week, my friends and I were trying to create new dance moves and the ones I performed put a lot of stress on my knees. On Monday when I started added squats to my every other day activities, I noticed that I heard some clicking noises coming from my right knee. I do not have any swelling, pain, I can put weight on one leg just fine, the clicking noises only occur when I try to squat on my knee.

When I put my hand on my knee and raise my knee I can feel that something is being slightly pulled? or maybe thats more clicking.

I asked a few people for their opinion on my situation,

-One Biology teacher said I have a early symptom of Arthritis. However he was busy and all I asked him was “Why do I have popping sounds in my knee?” my friend said I over exaggerated the question a lot to him and I feel so to.
-One AP teacher said I have damaged my cartilage but it’s not a sign of arthritis and it’s easily fixed with exercises with the knee.
-One friend said the fact that I don’t drink milk and exercise my knee in general because I don’t makes it so my knee is weak and dancing last week put alot of strain, which I have to agree the dancing was very strainful as it involved a series of stomping on the floor for 3minutes.
-Another friend said I’m overworrying too much and it’s just a minor easily fixable injury caused by too much strain and can be fixed by consuming more calcium and doing exercise.

I’m not too sure what to believe right now as many people are giving me different stories. I might just go get a x-ray check? Or I might be wasting my time and really am overworrying too much on this.

Any suggestions or thoughts?
It doesn’t interfere me really, it’s just like I guess when I first heard it, a bit scary I thought my bones were going to break. Later it becomes nothing really, I only hear some clicking sounds whenever I do squats.

Is it safe to exercise like this?

Can anyone tell me if what I have is symptoms of fibromyalgia or arthritis or something. I had a fractured rib last year from an auto accident and I am still suffering from nerve pain in that spot that won’t go away. I go to pain management for it. Somedays my whole body hurts or aches. Like right now. My muscles will ache like I’ve done something to pull them but I haven’t. I have soreness around my sides, in my back. I just think there’s something else going on with my body. Plus I’m so tired all the time that I can barely even function throughout a day without taking a nap. I’m only 38 years old and that doesn’t seem normal. Please someone tell me what you think it could be.
Also when I wake up in the morning, my legs hurt and feet are sore.

My 14yr old cat has had episodes of mobility problems for the past few years, the vet tells me its just arthritis. However I live in a country where the vets are only used to treating horses, so I’m not too confident, and I dont have any alternative vets to consult, so PLEASE help!
In the latest episode, she has had 1 dose of a long acting steroid (depo?) each month for 3 months. I’ve had all the blood tests, and everything is fine, I had xrays done, initally they told me she had a broken hip, but apprenetly it turned out that its a normal feature in an Xray of a cat if the cat is not positoned just right…
Now for the last two days she has started walking diagonally rather than staright and she seems to twist her body more when she walks. She’s also had her first ever ear problems recently, I know this can affect balence, I’m just stuck with not knowing what to do…
Can someone please give me some advice, I hate to see her suffer! I just wish I could get her to a vet that could

Ok my dog is thirteen and has arthritis. She is always chewing herself because it itches. So today while I was getting her water I saw something strange. Right where her tail meets her body it was red and bleeding some. I dont need to take her to the vet. How do I help her and can I help her?

I noticed that my dog had a small cluster of about what looks to be about 7 sores/blisters on her lips and nose, there are about 7 of them. They don’t seem to be causing him any kind of pain, and there is no draining, they are just red and look to be swollen

She has just started new medication for arthritis ,she is a 12yr staffy bull terrier and am worried! please help
