hey everybody,can anyone give me some names to some over the counter medicines for arthritis that works well? my mom has a touch of arthritis in one of her knees that’s been giving her trouble and she needs a little relief before her doctors appointment .if anyone can help us out about this we would greatly appreciate it thanks a lot

I have a 12 year old newfy with arthritis.

i have a black lab that recently turned 14, we’ve always known he’s had mild arthritis, but the past few weeks he wont get up to do anything, i brought his in the house to day, and he keeps leaning off to the side hes been walking on, the other side looks limp, like he drags his paw. and it feels like theres no muscle there anymore… someone please help, ive been in tears all morning. i dont know what to do.

I was diagnosed with JRA last year at 14. Mine is the severe type. I am on methotrexate, enbrel, and several steroids. Pain pills dont really work. HELP!

I know this is a ridiculous question, but just on the chance I may get a positive answer & for my pets’ sake, I must ask it.

My husband & I are unemployed, cars broken down, no cash on hand or income whatsoever. When we had good jobs our pets’ health needs were taken care of immediately & usually w/o regard to cost as long as they weren’t so sick that spending lots of money would be simply throwing it away. Even later after being laid off but while receiving unemployment benefits), we did everything possible to keep pets healthy — took them to vet as needed & provided excellent home care, diet, etc. They still get great care by us @ home, but we can’t take them to vet anymore. We only have food stamps now, so we make them “people” food using chicken-brown rice-fresh veggies, since we can’t use food stamps to buy regular pet food. They’re probably healthier for the home-cooked food, but it’s a lot of work!

We had terrible fleas this year here in Dallas-Ft. Worth TX. Despite removing them from house to bathe/treat them while simultaneously treating exterior/interior of house for fleas/eggs, washing all bedding, using Frontline & Advantage on them, & now despite a 5-day hard freeze here 2 weeks ago, they still have fleas & therefore also have those worms in their feces that pets get from eating fleas (either pin-worms or tape-worms or round worms, don’t remember which they’re called). Only effective treatment is pills from vet. Also, older bloodhound needs his once-a-month ($32 ea. time) cortizone shots for his hip/arthritis probs. They all need updates on vaccinations, heartworm checks, then heartworm prevention meds. One cat has diabetes but is healthy & does just fine when she’s on her insulin (just like a person). But now we can’t afford insulin & her monthly blood-sugar level test.

Has anyone ever heard of a nationwide or Texas group of voluntary, pro-bono veterinarians who volunteer a portion of their time to treating pets of people who are temporarily broke w/no way to pay unless after finding, beginning jobs later on?

My father has osteoarthritis in his hip. It is so bad he has to use crutches to get around otherwise he falls. He was taking glucosamine and calcium’s. His osteoarthritis was cause by his ashma medication (steroids) that he takes. Is there any alternatives out there for him to help with the pain and discomfort? He really does not want an operation cause of his other medical problems. Please help?

does anyone know the symptoms for knee arthritis and or may be able to tell me what I have? please help each day the pain is unbearable some days it goes away but comes back later!!! help!!

its seems like rheumatoid arthritis or possible lupus with arthritis.its getting worse with every flare.my neck,shoulders,back,hands and legs are in so much pain.i am waiting on the test results which were taken on jan 8th.doctor took ts4 hormone,cbc with diff,rh factor,ana antibody.my symptoms arent just pain,feels like grinding,cold pains,not feeling well,so on.
dont know test results yet.yes my pain is in joints bi-lateral on both sides.i do have a rash on my nose and face that showed up and hasnt gone away since aug.my knuckles are getting big.it does seem to me that it could be rheumatoid arthritis more than lupus but,the reddness on my face is fishy.just being patient for the results.my symptoms are getting worse.feels like my muscles are detaching from the bone.im begining to feel weaker.
