But i cant find studies, can you help out. Basically i need to know the general frequency, intensity, practicality, and safety issues of aquatic therapy
My husband had a tibial plateau fracture a year and a half ago. Was non-weight bearing and in an immobilizer for a month. After that he started weight bearing and therapy. After 3 months of therapy, he stopped progressing and started to become worse. They stopped therapy and did a MRi and CT which showed nothing. At this point the first doctor released him to work. We switched doctors and the new doctor kept him off work. He worked as a land surveyor. He needs to walk long distances and need to be able to bend and squat down. He can’t bend his knee past 90 degrees and can’t walk long distances without pain. He knee also pops loudly with extreme pain. I can hear it across the room. He got another MRI this September which really didn’t show anything. It only said a possible healed tear in the meniscus. Present doctor doesn’t want to do anything else because he assumes Workman’s comp will deny any treatment because of the negative MRI. He also had a bone scan in the spring which led them to add the diagnosis of traumatic arthritis. We also tried pain management, which as a complete joke. They just prescribed medicine for nerve pain that the doctor said probably wasn’t the problem. The medicine isn’t working at all. Can something be wrong that they are missing? Should we push for a scope of the knee? Should we try for therapy again? Any other tests we should request? We feel like we are chasing our tails.
We asked the doctor for physical therapy and he didn’t want to do that either for fear it would be denied by Workman’s comp. We told him we wanted to try and he agreed but after a month and a half of nagging, his office still hasn’t sent the paperwork in for therapy to be approved.
I injured my knee twice at work hitting it on a concrete floor. I continued to work after the first incident in July. But have been off 6 months since the last incident in September. I went to a W/C panel doctor for treatment. He performed arthroscopic surgery on my knee. And found a very significant chondral defect on my medial femoral condyle. Caused in his opinion by the trauma my knee received. He said he shaved it down and cleaned it up.
I recently went to a new orthopedic doctor of my choice. As I`m continuing to have pain and mobility problems after the surgery, and 6 weeks of physical therapy. This doctor ordered an MRI of my knee. Something the other one never did. The MRI reveals the following issues. There is small joint effusion. And a very small Baker`s cyst. There is mucoid degeneration of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus without evidence of discrete tear. Also chondromalacia of the patellofemoral compartment. Without evidence of a full thickness articular cartilage defect. And of course some arthritis.
The new doctor has given me a cortisone injection. And prescribed 6 more weeks of PT. He thinks I`ll be able to return to work with limitations, and wearing a padded brace. But I work as a corrections officer. And there is no full time light duty post. Works wants me to comeback yesterday. And without limitations. But my union and I don`t trust them if I continue to have problems!
My question is from the injuries I`ve descibed. Do you believe that my knee will only get worse as time goes on? I am 48 years old. And up until my injuries always exercised and kept in shape. Now I just do the PT and walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes a day. Its very frustrating! I never had any knee problems before. Its hard to believe all this can come from 2 good hits on my knee! Hopefully someone out there can shine a light on my injuries and predicament! THANKS!
My teenage niece has been complaining of her knee “popping” for about three years now. Recently, however, she complains that it also hurts. She used to play sports when she was a little girl. When she bends her knee it pops and hurts on the sides of her knee cap the most she says, but also throughout the entire knee. Also, just walking for about thirty minutes or more can cause her knee to hurt. Arthritis is common in the family, could this be the problem, or something more? Should we get her knee checked out? Lastly, what could this be and what are treatment options?
Thank you all!
Her parents never got it checked out, because it didn’t even seem like a big deal to their child. Now, she is believing that it is a big deal, therefore, I agreed to make her an appointment. Her parents wanted me to get some information on the subject first, which is what I’m doing.
I’m 46 years old, I’m a very sport man, suddenly I had a pain in my right knee 4 months ago. After I made X-ray, doctors said that it is knee osteoarthiritis.
I’d like to come back to my sport as quick as possible.
For several years I have been living with a constant pain and it keeps getting worse.
I have had lyme disease since I was a toddler and am getting treated by the best lyme doctor in the world. I have had many strange problems over the years. Oh and don’t tell me I’m treating it wrong and it goes away in a few weeks. EVERY lyme patient I’ve EVER spoken to has done doxycycline and felt amazing then weeks later it came back twice as badly. Now that that’s cleared up let me get to the point. For about a year now my left knee feels like it has a hard lymph node underneath the knee cap when I straighten it while walking. It doesn’t really hurt except after I walk for a long time without a break. It has NEVER happened to my right knee. I’ve always had growing pain-like pains after a lot of leg use a couple hours later and everyone just diagnosed it as “tendinitis” or “arthritis”. I believe that is irrelevant and I got rid of that with treatment but I felt it was worth mentioning. The knee pressure isn’t constant and has no pattern; it is completely random, and only happens with a very specific walking pattern. About 3-5 years ago I jumped into my couch and one of the springs came loose and cut a hole into the side of my knee in the left hollow spot diagonal to the knee cap in front. It went so far that I saw “white” flesh and it didn’t really bleed. The pressure started happening fairly recently this year though. I’ve always had problems with my legs but this is a very weird one. Thank you all for any valuable insight into what the problem is. Sincerely, Jeremy.

The situation is such that I am unable to find work. I am unemployed and do not qualify for assistence. I have attempted suicide once. I need help. I am running out of time,
I am only 26 and I have early stage osteoarthritis in my knee. My MRI did not show any meniscal tears. I took physical therapy for 8 weeks and it seemed to help but now it’s getting worse. My knee constantly pops when I walk and I can’t exercise much. My surgeon wants to “scope” my knee and “pick” the bone but from what I’ve read online arthroscopic surgery doesn’t have good reviews. Has anyone had experience with it? If so what was your experience and what was the recovery like?
