At first it was only my left knee, then after a couple of weeks that knee felt better and now a couple of months later my right knee is even more painful. Same symptoms. sweeling, fluid in knee i think. So I’m assuming if I have arthritis it’s in both knees. Tomorrow I will call and schedule an appointment for x-rays probably. Anyone have arthritis in the knee? what’s it like for you? what type do you have?

I understand that it’s a difficult disease to treat and all, so I’m trying to be patient. But I’m in constant pain and can’t walk without a cane.

My grandpa’s doctor prescribed me a handicap sign so I could get to class before my first appointment with my Rheumatologist. It expired a couple weeks ago.

I not only go to school, but I also work full time and am dad full time. I told my doctor that I can barely walk, I have to take 3 baths a day just to ease the pain and keep my daughter from seeing my cry, and simply can’t be the happy person I used to be.

I’m not wining about it. Shit happens, and I’m not the only one with ra in his knee. But my rheumatologist wouldn’t renew my handicap sign, and will not give me more than 3, 5mg vicodin a day. I understand that this disease is tricky to treat, but the pain shouldn’t have to be.

My question is, is this normal? My knee is bigger than a grapefruit and I am not exaggerating when I say I can barely walk. Is it normal for him to withdraw writing a handicap sign for me and giving me so few pain pills? I’m considering a new doctor, but obviously won’t do so if that’s just how it is. It just seems to me I shouldn’t have to wait 7 hours in misery for 1 hour of relief due to a lifelong disease. Please tell me your thoughts, anyone. I just want to be able to function again….walking faster than my 2 year old would be a definite plus too!

In the early morning hours after the injection I woke up with excruciating pain and could not bend my knee without strong pain. Is this a result of the injection?? I’m on 6 pain killers a day and 3 of them are morphine based for the pain.
I’ve been told that I’m too young for a knee replacement on the NHS and can’t afford to go private.

He finally went to the dr and he said its most likely a torn tendon. He said he can have the surgery to fix it but afterwards, he will have arthritis forever or wait it out for about 7-8 months to heal itself. He is trying to wait it out but it feels crippling to him, sometimes he has to sit down for a while or just stop what hes doing, etc. If he plans on waiting it out, what are some things he could do to relieve the pain?
Hes about 6’2 and about 320 ish lbs.

Didnt require surgery, just some PT that i slacked on. Now, anytime I do anything strenuous, such as last week’s job that involved moving heavy furniture, I find my knee swollen, and almost unable to bend it. Stairs and ramps are a killer too. I can function, and indeed do still walk and work around, but I’d like to hear some good homegrown remedies for it. I have been taking ibuprofen regularly to combat the swelling, and have been using Capazin ointment, but to no real avail. I have to be on my feet 8 hours a day at least to work, on concrete floors and ladders. Just bought some new shoes, but nothing expensive, and i am using insoles. I need some relief! Help! Thanks!
