I have just been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia today, after two and a half months of swelling joints, pain and difficulty carrying on with my life. After seeing three specialist, four doctors and literally having a hundred negative blood test, I had to be rushed to the ER because I could not walk, or support my own weight when standing. I have been doing all kinds of research, The Doctor and the Hospital had given tons of info about it, and treatment and had referred me to a rheumatologist to confirm this, (It was thought I had Rheumatoid Arthritis, but after four negative blood tests; they believe that they have narrowed down my problem)– and what a problem it is.
I am only 19 years old, and I am scared of what what I will end up living with for the rest of my life. I am currently taking Amitriptyline before bed ( I start today) and a pain medication (Oxycodone). I know what non-medicated treatments I can do to help, I just want to know how I can deal wtih this, stress should be avoidable with this disorder, but I have a very full plate of stress, and have been living with anxiety and panic disorders for a couple of years, with no help in subsiding it.
All I want to know (From someone intellegient who knows about this disorder, or someone living with this disorder) what I should expect, how I should handle my stress/anxiety (meds do not seem to work) How to deal with the pain, the people who think your making your aches and pains up in your mind and if there are any home remedies to controlling or atleast subsiding it so I can carry on with my life. I am only 19 years old, I work 3rd shift ( which I may have to leave do to the type of job I do) at UPS, and I go to college full time. I have a worry that I will not be able to live my life, with the amount of pain I am expierencing now, I cant imagine how I am to live with this down the road.
Please lend me support, I am in need someone that can help me understand what I am about to live and deal with.

thankyou

Alot of night sweats, night “jumps” (muscle twitching) and daytime fatigue. I get soreness and pain in my shoulder blades & in the muscles down my arms (bicep) and legs (thighs). Theres pressure up my spine to the base of my skull and causes migraines.

I get sudden bouts of nausea, and have severe brain fog/ confusion. Recurring conjunctivitis, swollen ears & dry vee-jay skin.

( The dr had me checked for thyroid, pheochromocytoma & wpw disease, standard CBC test- all negative.)

24 yr fem. Symptoms started when I was 19.

And are you taking medication for these medical problems?

I’ve heard , Arizona, Florida or California

I wake up many times during the night in pain. My joints and muscles hurt from head to toe most of the time. I stay tired all the time. My iron level stays low. I am currently on prescribe medication which only helps a little. I really do not like to take medicine and especially when the doctors tells me I have to be on it for the rest of my life. I have tried several different natural remedies but nothing seems to work. I was hoping someone else with these diagnoses has found the miracle cure for this. Thank you and wish you always with good health.

I am a 23 yr. old female and have been living with fibromyalgia and rheum. arthritis for about 2 1/2 years. It all happened after the birth of my daughter. These conditions affect my every day life so negatively that i have trouble performing the easiest tasks. I’m on multiple medicines for these conditions, but nothing eases my pain. I’m on pain relievers as well, but the barely even take the edge off. anyone else dealing with this? What should i do? pain management doc?

I’ve been in severe and constant pain all over my body for the past 8 or 9 months now. Unfortunately, when an MRI was scheduled I was unable to do it because my insurance was shut off. Now I have insurance again because I’m pregnant. My doctor tested me for arthritis and it came out negative and will not test me for anything else until I give birth. Unfortunately this doesn’t help my situation at all considering the pain has gotten increasingly worse, to the point where I can no longer work for a few hours. I’m thinking about going to another doctor because the one I have now just tells me to take tylenol for a day and all my problems should be cured. One problem with that… tylenol has no affect on me. My father has fibromyalgia and so does my brothers girlfriend. Both suggest for me to get tested because I’m showing a lot of signs of it and because I have overactive nerves, I have a good chance of having it. Unfortunately I do not know if I can be tested while pregnant. Googled it and nothing came up. Anyone have any answers?

I am 25 and i have sciatica, mild arthritis and degenerative discs in my lower back. i also have pain eveywhere else in my body with no exlpanation- stiffness in my joints, especially knees, hips, wrists, elbows. i get spasms from time to time in my legs, both my legs hurt like hell all the time and they tingle, and i have to constantly find new postions for them to be comfortable, like restless leg sydrome. The pain in my lower back is like the epicenter with the pain just radiating out to my extremities, even my knuckles hurt sometimes. i have pain and tenderness in some of the 18 points that they use for diagnosing fibro. plus chronic fatgiue, sleep disturbances, depression, etc etc etc… i am seeing a Rhumtologist this coming week and i am concerned if i do indeed have fibro, if this could have been brought on by the back problems. i have had these symptoms for 3 years.

I just had a baby four months ago and I barely started to have these pains in my legs, thighs, ankles and arms. Recently I had this extreme pain in my arm and it hurts so bad I think it might be arthritis or something. I looked up on it and I’ve read about Fibromyalgia, could it be? I dont really eat that well and I’m strictly breastfeeding too could this also cause a problem? I’ve heard that it’s pretty common for some people to get it after pregnancy and some of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia are aching all over, poor sleep, stiffness on waking, and being tired all day, headaches, dizziness, numbness and tingling, crampy abdominal or pelvic pain” and these are some symptoms that I have been experiencing.

Does anyone know of good organizations that are working towards research and coping? What about research that is being done? What are your FM stories? No whiners please…I was diagnosed with FM 3 years ago, and I can’t seem to find any activism going on towards finding relief/cures for this illness…every support group ends up being a bunch of people who can’t stop complaining. I suffer from this debilitating illness just as much as the next person, but don’t want to complain…I want to hear about success stories, treatments, people doing something to advance public education and get more research performed….this illness has progressed quietly long enough and it is time to get it out there in the public eye, like AIDS, MS, cancer…even asthma and arthritis have more public education and understanding. Anyone feel the same?
