You know… like Cesar Milan does. He pulls the dog by the leash roughly. Now I’ve seen other people doing it constantly to their dogs. If you did that to a human, they would have tendon damage, muscle damage, and then develop arthritis. Can’t this be harmful to dogs? Even a little bit? I think it can.

I think my dog has arthritis, I’m taking her to the vet today, what do you think I should expect to pay? And what will they be doing to her? I’m assuming x-rays and meds, but on average how much does that cost? Thanks!

My little pomeranian tried to squeeze through a heavy closing door when he was 4 mo. old which resulted in a fracture to the top part of his leg. He needed to have his leg pinned, yet since the fracture happened while he was still growing, it affected his growth plates, and now that leg is about half a foot shorter. He is 7 mo. old now, and it doesn’t seem to bother him, he tries to use it, but cannot put much weight on it since it is so much shorter, so the muscle mass is way smaller in that leg. I was just wondering if there is anything that could be done to help the situation, or if anyone else has had this happen to a pet- will he have future problems? Might he eventually lose the leg due to not enough muscle mass?

Can dogs get arthritis? I have a 7-8 year old black lab (mixed with something else dont know what) and after he plays ball for anywhere from 30 min-1 hour he will be sore at night. He has to lean against the wall to go up stairs and he cries. This is often it is usually about every 1-2 months maybe 3. When he walks his feet make a cracking sound. Could this all be a sign of arthritis? How can I do something to help him?

I lost my 5 year old boxer last month. I’ve lost other dogs from cancer and anemia. I did everything the vets they went to told me. Vaccinated them yearly even tho one would have such a bad allergic reaction the vet always gave her a shot of steroids whenever she got a vaccine. I fed them everything the vets recommended, used flea control, tick control the whole nine yards. Jack, my boxer I just lost was out of nowhere. Seizures for 2 days nonstop. Two vets saw and examined him and found nothing. Since he has passed, I’ve been reading a lot. And a lot of the info I’m reading is stating a few things. Commercial dog food is horrible and basically poison to our dogs. (my dogs are on Campbells For the Dog Lovers Soul a highly recommended food) but one still has skin issues, tears himself up at times. The other thing is vaccines. I’ve done a lot research and I’m finding that we are over vaccinating our pets
Growing up in the 70’s we had dogs. My parents did the rabies shot that was it. The dogs we had ate whatever my mom cooked for them or whatever raw bones she gave them. They all lived to be healthy and old. They ended up having to be put down due to blindness or arthritis getting so bad they couldn’t walk. So my question is. Why are my dogs dying so young when I have done everything the vets have told me to? I have never had a dog live past 8 years old. Growing up I had large breed dogs as I do now and they lived for double the age. I’m seriously considering switching my dogs to a raw diet. I’ve given the commercial dog food 10 years of loyalty and have had nothing but skin issues, cancer, anemia and other illnesses. I’m also considering reducing their vaccination schedule. Rabies, I will continue to do every year. But with Jack when he had seizures and I researched it, I read that distemper can cause that. At the vets office, I asked could he have distemper (while waiting on blood work results) and the vets answer was “I’ve never seen distemper in a dog this age whether he is vaccinated or not”
So why am I vaccinating my dogs every year if they’ve never seen it in a dog that age regardless of being vaccinated against it?

I have a shih Tzu, not sure about his actual age but around 13 YRS. I think He has always had arthritis since we adopted him about 4 yrs ago. But just recently he hasn’t been able to go u the steps and if you go near him or try to pick him up he yelps. Is there any thing I can give him??
