My dog is 11 and still very healthy, other than arthritis, which she’s on medicine for and doesn’t bother her much. She’s a smart girl with a lot of energy and I’m sure she’s getting bored just going for walks and playing in the park. I used to do agility with her, but she’s too old for that now. I know swimming would be great but nowhere around here allows dogs.

What are some fun activities for her that won’t bother her joints?

Has anyone had experience (good or bad) in using Rimadyl for treating Hip Dysplasia ?

I want to be a vet assistant. But am wondering, for dogs with old age (arthritis or post surgery) if there was such thing as physical therapy for dogs? If so, how would I certify in that? Thanks!

Hi. I have a Chow Chow dog, who is 12 years old. I have noticed that when he is sleeping, his fore legs twitch for a while, then it stops. It only happens when he is sleeping, never in any other moment. His fore legs muscles never twitch when he is awake, or eating, or walking, never, ever. Just when he sleeps, and it only happens sometimes, not always. And when it happens, its just for some minutes, then it stops, it seems it happens only when he is in a state of deep slumber…or dreaming.

He can walk, run, normally, doesnt has a problem with that. He has some arthritis in his left fore leg because of his age, but has medication for that. In some occasion, I covered him with a blanket because it was cold, and the twitch stopped, but sometimes happens when its not too cold.

So this twitch seems strange, because it happens only for some minutes when he sleeps, only at sleep, and then it stops, and it doesnt happen everytime he sleeps, just occasionally.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

hi
scrappy (picture) turned 4 in Aug.
when I’ve put him outside the last couple of weeks his back legs start to shake
i bring him back in cause he looks like he is cold.
well i talked to my vet and she said it could be the start of it or he could just be a baby.and if i want medicine to let her know.

now he is a big baby but last yr he was fine but he was in a fence with his brother and sis. we had to move so right now they don’t get to play and are on chains till we get a fence.
today i put him out and all of him was shaking so he is next to me right now.
so what are signs to look for? anything else????
thanks
he is used to being on the chain i did that when he was a puppy
i go out to see him and always check on him
they are fine for getting to play thats not the problem

Does anyone know if green mussel extract is beneficial in dogs.Have you used it?
Thank you.

When I take my dog out for a walk, we always play fetch downhill with a launch and tennis ball. I try not to over work her, but she comes home with a sore front paw each time. I take her for normal runs with just a frisbee sometimes as well but she still gets sore paws! Is it arthritis?! Please, I’m worried.
She is an Australian Shepherd.

And could you also tell me more awhat these dogs can do exactly and where could i find more information at. im asking because my grandma lives alone in another state ( we tried to get her to come live with or near us but she doesnt want to) and she has rhumatoid arthritis and has had knee replacments in both of her legs. She can still walk and can remember stuff very well but imean she cant get around like she used to and cant lift things like she used to. She also does not have a car as when she was driving she was hit by another car and does not have the money riht now to pay for a new car. could a service dog help her in chores like getting something that may be too heavy for her or just giving her some company as we do visit her but we cant visit her always. thanks for awnsering in advance.
i meant heavy as in a plastic laundry basket or a small jug

I have a red nose pitbull who is 20-22 years old, shes definitely got arthritis in her back legs she has a hard time moving and getting up sometimes you can tell she cant take it and she has to sit down you can also tell that they are stiff. Im sure this is uncomfortable for her and plus sometimes she whines a little when she walks. We have had her since a pup and im trying to find an arthritis medicine for dogs that is safe for her. Im sure she is going to go soon but while shes still here id like to do what I can to help her with this discomfort. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well as any information on the medicine
Thank you!
My dads ex was a vet tech and she would get her meds but since they split she decided to be mean and not even tell us the name of it. I dont live with my father or the dog I am married so I cant just go take her to the vet while im there and my dad is very busy.
