I am really searching for opinions/advice from experts and/or people with similar symptoms as to mine who have found answers. I am a 20 year old college student, 6’1″ 145 lbs. and have been active all my life. I am just going to list some of the problems I have experienced in the past and my current symptoms with actions I have taken in response. I’m sure not all of these have significance but I do not want to leave anything out. Please help if you might know what’s going on! Thank you.

(entire life) every blood test has shown I have extremely low iron so have been “anemic” as long as I can remember. Thus suffer from fatigue during daytime.
(entire life) have ADHD that runs in the family and have been taking adderall/vyvanse for last year
(entire life) suffered from Insomnia that runs in the family, so on avg sleep 5 hrs a night
(entire life) I occasionally sleep for more that 18 hrs at a time and even as often as once a week
(entire life) Intense Psoriasis on scalp and elbow with no found remedies by my Dermatologist
(last 5 yrs) eczema on elbow and now both elbows as of this year
*****Here starts what I’m most concerned with********
(entire life) sensitivity to foods, especially ones outside of my daily diet resulting in stomach upset
(last 6 yrs) excruciating intestine cramps for hours leading to diarrhea occurring on avg. 6x a year
(last month) bright blood present in bowel movements (seems to reside some with stool softeners)
(last month) dry, itchy, sensitive rashes on eyelids and skin covering jaw area (seem to be especially sensitive to oils and burn on exposure) Could be spread of psoriasis? not sure.
(last month) more frequent stomach aches after almost every meal/snack. Stomach makes loud digestive noises.
(last month) more frequent sharp pains in lower abdomen region (possibly intestines)
(last month) side cramps in torso
(last few weeks) occasional heartburn, throat swelling, and lower sharp chest pains after meals (prilosec OTC helps the heartburn)
(last week) unexplained excessive eye discharge and irritation
(last few weeks) hives on arms, legs, stomach, and back that seem to occur after eating foods with tomato (i.e. pizza, lasagna, ketchup) with the exception of salsa
(last few weeks) occasional puffy top eyelids that do not go away with benadryl and take about 24 hrs to get back to normal. Seem to be reactions to certain foods like the ones mentioned

These all sounded like food allergy problems to me so I went to my general doctor and he decided to do a blood test to see if I had acquired some common food allergy that was causing all this activity in the last month and maybe we would get an easy explanation. It tested for the common allergens (soy, gluten, lactose, wheat, etc) and results came back normal on all of these. He said he ran another test I’m not sure what it was exactly but that the lab results reported a positive ANA titer of 1:180. He did not mention the pattern. He said he was worried this and my symptoms may suggest an autoimmune disease. He mentioned Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Lupus, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. He referred me to a Gastroenterolgist? and a Rheumatoligist? for further testing. He said the GI may want to do a colon biopsy but that the GI of course will know more and it could take weeks for any answers. We both agree that it seems to be a problem with my digestive system but I will see a Rhuematolgist if need be.

I know this is an extremely long post, but I just want some insight from people who know more than me. Do my symptoms seem to suggest an autoimmune disease and if so do you know any more information?

A couple years ago I had an esophagogastroduodenoscopy which is a test they do for celiac’s disease (gluten intolerance). The test came back 90-something % but, after about two months, the diet i needed got too expensive, I’m a college student, and I went back to whatever was cheap. Since then, I’ve had no flare ups. I also recall that I still had joint/bone pain and fatigue while I was on the gluten-free diet. Not only I believe, but my mother and grandparents also believe that I was misdiagnosed. I know that usually arthritis and irritable bowel syndrome are often misdiagnosed for celiac’s but can celiac’s ever be misdiagnosed for something?
I don’t believe a lawyer should be consulted but thank you.

And I have read about Celiac’s Disease. In books, on the internet, and also I have a doctor from when I first was diagnosed. My problem is that it’s been two years since my two month celiac diet. I didn’t have any belching or gas or anything. I had strong stomach pains, on my side, and I haven’t had any since then.

I’ve had muscle and joint issues for a long time now. It waxes and wanes so it doesn’t bother me on most days but I do get odd symptoms when I am not having tenderness throughout my body. An example would be tenderness or numbness or tingling in my fingers. Or when I wake up, sometimes my feet hurt real bad and I can barely walk on them (which sometimes happens when I stand too long too). The most common symptom I have is neck, shoulder, and upper back pains or stiffness. Thought to just be anxiety, but unsure.

About two years ago, my primary care doctor saw that my spine has a bone spur when she was x-raying my lungs. She ordered a blood test and I tested positive for the Rheumatoid Factor. I was given a referral to see a Rheumatologist and he said that I don’t have the trademark signs of Rheumatoid Arthritis because I didn’t have any deformations or Nodules under the skin. He noted that I complained about arthralgias but it was not visible to him as arthritis (inflammation); so he didn’t formally diagnose me with ANYTHING, but he started a pain treatment (which didn’t work). He did note that I had a Vitamin D level of 21 and suggested that I took Vitamin D supplements… Shortly after this visit, I lost my job, and my health insurance with it… So this is life’s big mystery for me…

For years leading up to my primary care doctor’s findings, I blamed all this tenderness, numbness, pain, etc on my terrible allergies. A doctor that saw me had hinted it could be Lupus because of the frequency of my visits, but I was too chicken to go get the blood work done (but I don’t have any of the traditional Lupus symptoms so it was just a hunch).

I am noticing a connection between the weather and my muscle/joint issues. Today, the humidity is 100% outside with rain and my body hurts everywhere. All joints, all muscles. I have no visual swelling though, just pain.

Any ideas what it is?

I am a 24 yr old woman receiving treatment for joint pain, in particular my knees. I am trying to figure out whether I am suffering from Stills Disease or Reactive Arthritis?
When I was 18 I had an operation to release tendons in my knees and sort out grinding and associated pain. 8 Months later I was admitted to hospital after suffering what I thought was flu. I had extremely swollen joints, esp my knees. I had a fever over 40 degrees, a pinky, non itchy rash covering my body, extreme vomitting, sore throat, very limited movement, blackening of my nails and very bad pain throughout my joints, I was very ill and was in hospital for a week and half before the doctors could figure out what was wrong. They drained fluid from my knees which was a bright yellow in colour. This fluid was also present in other joints. After I was well again (which took quite a while) my consultant said that if it ever returns then it was most likely Stills Disease, but at the time they were calling it Reactive Arthritis. Since then my immunity has been very poor, and whenever I get poorly my joints swell and are very painful. I have never been the same since and suffer knee pain more than ever before.
I am now being treated again by a consultant for knee pain and he seems to think it may be reactive arthritis again and is sending me for an MRI scan.
I want to know whether he could have it wrong and it is actually Still’s Disease I am suffering with?
Thoughts?
