My Dad is on blood thinner called Cumiden and he is not allowed to have leafy green veggies like broccoli. I know he can have a salad about once a week.
Another problem is that he has a condition called gout. He can no longer eat shellfish and he can rarely eat red meat.
Last, but not least, my dad has high cholesterol. What foods should he eliminate? What foods are good for him to have considering he has all of these conditions?
My Dad is a little overweight and needs help losing weight so his arthritis pain won’t hurt him so much. He also has heart problems hence why he is on blood thinner. It’s nearly impossible for him to exercise…
My Dad used to be a big, strong man. I can’t stand to see him like this anymore… Can someone please help?!
I’m fifteen, 5′3” and weigh 135 lbs. I recently found out I’m 25% body fat. I’m in a family of hour glass shaped women. I have my moms torso (my bra size is 32D) and I have no waist at all. I don’t appear ‘fat’ but I feel like I need to be healthier. My family isn’t too healthy, we have too much meat and not enough fruits and veggies. I recently asked them if we can get more and they said yes so I’ve. I’m not too active.I don’t find myself being too athletic and I am always out of breath when I walk up stairs and such. I would like to reduce my body fat to at least under 20%. How much weight would I need to lose? Could I lose it a healthy way over the summer? What sort of exercise could I do (keep in mind I’m not too committed to exercise not to mention I have a form of arthritis in my knees so it hurts to run and do squats.) What should I do to eat healthy even though my parents don’t? Help!
My lovely pomeranian is on Purina right now. But I’m thinking of making homemade food, and I know I should switch slowly.
Here are a few things I’m planning to use, and tell me what you think (and any references are helpful as well!)
Oatmeal/brown rice for carbs (scarcely!)
Peas/Carrots (he loves hard carrots)
Eggs, maybe some almonds, cheddar cheese (again, sparingly)
Some kind of fruit?
And the main ingredients:
Chicken, hamburger, steak (all with no added spices or anything)
Any food “poisonous” to the dog? Any more food I can add?
Thanks a lot!
I love my Mickey, so I’m trying to prolong him!
Also, I will add that poms are vulnerable to early blindness, collasped trachea, and arthritis. Anything to help with those?
I’m looking for a way that is simple but will work to loose 15lbs in a month! that would be about 4 or 5 lbs a week. Im not sure what to do. Im limited on exercise because of my arthritis. Ive tried weight watchers before but honestly I don’t want to pay for a membership when I only want to do a month of it. I do not know much about weight loss pills or good diets. So could someone please give me some advice??
I am a 57 female with managed rhematoid arthritis osteo arthris, osteoporos, also asthma. I have had RA since my teens and managed to maintain a healthy weight until my last flare up where I gained aout 30 lbs. I had several reconstructve surgeries and gained more weght until I reached 210. With the osteoporosis, I lost 4 1/2 inches in height. I am now 5′1″ . I can’t afford the weiht loss programs but I do belong to a health club . I am only allower low impact exercise and swimming. I heard the low glucose diet is healthy. Does anyone have advise?
My 12-year old lab mix has arthritis in her hips, shoulders and spine. She has to take Previcox which is making her kidneys work too hard. The vet suggested Hill’s Prescription Diet k/d formula. It is VERY expensive. I have a second dog (who is 3) and it is impossible to get them to eat different foods. The last bag I bought was $80. Is there anything else that will help her, and feed him without $80 per month? They are both large dogs and can eat that bag of food in less than a month. Any suggestions?
My 4 year old female NEEDS to lose weight. I am worried that she is going to get arthritis because she is so heavy; and being that she is declawed, I think that puts her at more risk as well.
I don’t know how to do it because I have a 6 month old baby kitty, who, I think, should be able to have all of the kitten food he wants until he is a year old.
If I put my fat kitty on a diet, I wouldn’t be able to leave kitten food out for my baby kitty 24/7 because my fat kitty will eat it and never lose weight. If I don’t leave food out for my baby kitty 24/7 he will lose weight. I do not want my baby kitty to lose weight. BUT my fat kitty is going to have health issues if i don’t put her on a diet.
Please give me some sort of suggestion.

anyways, i used to drink a lot of diet cokes, havent had a soda in over a yr. anyways about a month or two i was reading in a magazine how magnesium can reverse damage from low bone density, i knew i was high risk cause i had a bone density test, and the article was saying to take high doses of magnesium and it would make your bones better, ive been doing this for a month or two and ive noticed a big improvement in a real short amt of time, i can do things i couldnt do before and now i dont even take pain killers anymore, cause of the magnesium healing up stuff. i take stuff like glucosamine too, and k and caltrate too and calcium and a few other stuff, is there something to this cause ive been feeling so much better, a month ago, i almost felt like quitting my job and now i feel so much better its just more tolerable to do stuff, will it totally heal up my joints? just wondered what happens after, im not so sure its arthritis, i think it might be a lot of damage from the sodas, also, someone said chromium was good for joints too so i was thinking of doing that with chromium too. i know people say not to take too many vitamins but if youre really deficient cause of phosphoric acid eating it up, i think sometimes you need to, just wondered what people’s opinions were on that. im not planning on ever drinking a soda again, too much of a hassle. it also gave me bad mood swings and possibly seizures cause i passed out a couple of times, anyone know about aspertame giving you seizures? any suggestions? on how to get back the bone density i should have, im trying to see if a doctor can give me meds for bone density but hes going to look at my bone scan first, i see him in two wks.
I don’t have the money to see a nutritionist or trainer of any sort, but want to figure out a good diet and fitness program for myself to follow. I’m 34 years old, male, about 6′1″ large frame, and weigh about 300. I think my goal weight should be around 170.
My health is generally good, I do have mild asthma (since childhood), and mild arthritis (for about 10 years). I was in good shape until I started college at age 21, and have gained about 10 lbs per year since.
What diet and fitness program would work best for me? Anyone know of any book-based programs they can recommend?
ok, i’m a 21 yr old female and i weigh 175. i’ve had 2 kids and since my second last yr i cant seem to get rid of the extra weight and i cant seem to stick to a certain diet. unfortunately, i dont have the greatest eating habits anymore bc i eat a snack whenever my husband does…yes i know a bad habit. i would like to lose give or take 50 lbs to get myself back to at least 130 but i dont want to go under 125. before i moved out of my last apartment i was riding my bike everyday to and from work and was losing weight greatly but someone stole it. last week i just got myself another so i can do that again. can anyone give me any help from experience or as a doctor or anything? also i want to go on a diet bc high cholestoral runs in my family and my doctor said mine is a lil high plus since my second baby i’ve also developed a lil arthritis in my lower back so i need to lose the weight. PLEASE HELP!! ANYTHING IS APRECIATED. thank you very much beforehand.
