I am presently using a single cane.

I was wondering what others have used to alleviate their pain.

My husband has rheumatoid arthritis and I want to know if anyone has had experience with this and has found anything that helps with the pain.

I need to wash my cat for her skin condition – it’s dry and flaky. Washing her is fine but I am concerned about getting her dry enough. Last time I noticed that she didn’t do a great job finishing the drying off by licking.

Last time I washed her was around October when the weather was warm but dry. Now it’s hot and humid and things like clothes take longer to dry. The air conditioner takes the humidity out of the air but creates cold spots that concern me if she was wet.

I will not use a hair dryer on her.

She’s elderly at 16 years old, and just a bit fragile with a little arthritis in one shoulder (and undergoing treatment), as well as being on chemo (in remission from cancer). So I really don’t want to do anything that could compromise her health.

Any sensible ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you for the answers so far. I think my technique for drying her off may be lacking so any suggestions there would be helpful. She’s usually pretty fed up with it all after the soaking and just wants to get away. No claws or nastiness from her – just a lot of strength & twisty-ness for an old girl. I simply grab what I can & rub.

sixchooks: Thanks for your interest. Chemo is just drugs &, for cats & dogs (& maybe chooks too), much weaker than humans get. They don’t get the same side effects & do really well.

What are the best OTC meds to take for R.A. (Rheumatoid Arthritis) symptoms?

Like such as sports like skiiing, skating, and biking perhaps? What are your experiences?

Foods to eat and not eat? medications? herbal?

she always complians of a ’sudden pain’ in her leg when she walks – and that keeps her from even getting out of bed. She hasnt been out of the hous for weeks from this pain. She is able to walk while holding on to something but she frequently has to rest because of the pain. Pesonally, just based on intuition, I think she should walk on it even when its in pain, and slowly it will go away. But from a medical standpoint: should she be walking and moving around or is it better to rest it? Any other treatments to keep away the pain? Thanks!

We saw her limping one morning and it seemed to worsen when my brother, not knowing of his condition, carried him. Our dog cried so hard and she now is terrified ( i’m sure coz she’s in deep pain ) to use her back legs. We still can’t take her to a vet because everytime we try to lift her up, she would cry so hard in pain. We still are not sure if it’s hip dysplacia or arthritis or something else. Please help.

Ever since i weighed 190 a year ago when i had surgery for diverticultis, i’ve gained 35 pounds due to a lack of activity and perhaps a medication that i’m on.

I’m 6′0″ tall and want to get back to around 190 again. I just turned 58 years of age.

For the last 25 years i’ve been anywhere from 180 to 190.

I had to retire early due to spinal arthritis and am not as active as i once was.

Can anyone suggest a good diet and excersize regimen for me that you, or someone you know, has had success with?
