• Omega 3 dosage for dogs? I don’t want to know about fish oil, I just want to know the everyday mg amount of omega 3 for a 5 kg 7 year old male
• purebreed lives longer than purebreed or? Because in the article of Pusuke the oldest dog, the writer wrote that purebred lives longer mixed breed.
• garlic for dogs? Some people say garlic are good for a dogs immunity system and some articles and people say that garlic are one of the toxic food that harms dogs.
• human food for dogs? I’m not saying about table scraps, I mean healthy lean meats vegetables and all the other healthy stuff with omega 3,6 and so on. Some people say it’s better to stick to commercial dog foods which I think is not so healthy, while others say healthy human food as it can also add years to a dogs life.
• glucosamine to prevent dog arthritis before they get it? Where is glucosamine found? Or what other food can prevent arthritis?
I’m really confused with all this because some people just feed their dog a few times and if their dog is still jumping around and fine they start to spread around the Internet saying how good that food is.

Hello, I had a health scare recently and found out I have the beginnings of fatty liver disease. I need to lose about 138 pounds to get into a healthy BMI. I am 31 and have aches and pains associated with being large, as well as mid arthritis in my knees. I have had lots of experience with weight loss and have a tentative goal and I have a few questions. My initial goal is to lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks. After that I will be happy with a pound a week as I am not after quick easy results but a life style change. But I am in a hurry to get those first 20 off for a function I want to go to and also because I am a ticking time bomb in regards to my health (pre diabetes and diabetes runs in my family etc) I have started Curves which is awesome because I get a good workout without feeling like I killed myself. My main concerns is 1) how do I make sure I am losing fat and not muscle? 2) what is safe weight loss in regards to heart health? (obviously being morbidly obese is very bad for your heart but I heard weight loss that is too fast can weaken your heart) 3) I realize it is a challenge to consistently lose 2 pounds a week which is why it is only a 10 week goal to get me excited about getting where I was before I kind of tuned out of reality and started gaining the last 20 pounds. How can I ensure I will average 2 pounds a week and make sure it is primarily fat and not muscle? 4) I do curves 3 days a week. What would be good for my off days to get some exercise in? Walking? 5) how much is enough fiber and what is a good suppliment when you fall short in your diet? 6) I am primarily counting calories, carbs, and fats. I was told to aim at around 30 grams of fat a day and to try to make as many of those as I can “good fats” can you elaborate on what that might be? 7) and lastly, cooking is a real challenge for me for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is I have a family to cook for that aren’t as motivated to improve their health, and my time is very limited so I need simple no fuss menus to keep me from getting overwhelmed and giving up. Is there a cookbook you recommend? while from scratch is always best, what microwave dinners are the healthiest when you are tempted to dial the pizza man just to get dinner over with? THANK YOU for thoughtful intelligent answers I really appreciate it!

At least give a full answer, with a look from both a pro and con side WITH articals to back up… Which is more than I can say for some people.

Don’t be closed minded and sound like your from the 1950′s.
I have actually read that more dog owners are doing this. The government has done a good job at convincing people that Marijuana is bad. Anything is bad if you abuse it. But if used properly your dog can benefit. Always remember that marijuana is not always smoked, you can eat it as well.

Please don’t be a government robot.

I have Rheumatoid arthritis, and I know I don’t get enough exercise. I think I would like to get a dog, for two reason. 1. It’ll be company for me, and 2. it will be a good reason for me to get out after work and walk. Right now, its too easy to say “i’m too tired” and plop down on couch. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Jennifer, I’ve really been going over all of those things in my mind. I’ve gone back and forth. I also have Inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, so the chances of me going into the hospital are not minimal. One minute I’m going through petfinder, looking at dogs, and the next minute I’m saying maybe I shouldn’t…I have several cats, and they do keep me company. They just don’t get me out and exercising, LOL! Your answer was really to the point and well thought out…thank you.

Nope, he’s not overweight. We feed him the right amount and I took him to the vet for a general check up a couple of months ago and his weight is fine, about 24 lbs. I’ve been told arthritis is a common thing when this breed ages.
