I know arthritis is common in larger dogs, but I’ve never heard of small dogs developing it.
Should I be worried about this? Could it be a sign of something more serious?

I suffered a minor ACL tear of my right knee about 16 years ago. Didnt require surgery, just some PT that i slacked on. Now, anytime I do anything strenuous, such as last week’s job that involved moving heavy furniture, I find my knee swollen, and almost unable to bend it. Stairs and ramps are a killer too. I can function, and indeed do still walk and work around, but I’d like to hear some good homegrown remedies for it. I have been taking ibuprofen regularly to combat the swelling, and have been using Capazin ointment, but to no real avail. I have to be on my feet 8 hours a day at least to work, on concrete floors and ladders. Just bought some new shoes, but nothing expensive, and i am using insoles. I need some relief! Help! Thanks!

I’ve seen this mentioned several times as relief for ailments. I am the caregiver for my 96 yr. old mom. She has arthritis affecting her sciatic nerve which we are treating with an herbal remedy. (I gave up on doctors!) She has what appears to be restless leg syndrome at night. It could quite possibly be from pressure on the sciatic nerve showing in her thigh and leg muscles.

At her age, I try to be very prudent about medications. She doesn’t need anything that will increase the likelyhood of her falling when she gets out of bed! I fought like the devil to get her off the morphine and percocet the pain management docs put her on for her back. I succeeded only when she found relief with the herbal meds.

This bar of soap trick….could it help her with the leg pains at night? I’d like specifics on what to do and where to position it. I’ll try anything if it will help her sleep at night! Just no more meds!!!

Thank you in advance!
I was called dumb when I bought her herbs for her back pain too…….now there are several more people using them successfully! I don’t care how it makes me sound, if it helps her, it’s worth a try….even if the end result in just better smelling feet!

hey there! I have 2 female dogs a 14yo maltese and an almost 3yo Chihuahua (mum was chihuahua..dad was chihuahua X mini foxie) So basically shes just a big chihuhua with a white belly.
The Maltese is the dominant female. The chihuahua is quite timid.

I live on the edge of a sports park that has a great walking path and leash free enclosed area etc. Its very dog friendly. Anyways today i was walking the chihuahua only (the maltese has arthritis and barks at other dogs while walking and i feel its good to get the chihuahua away from the dominant female for a little bit each day so i dont bring the maltese(dw theres no biting between them or anything horrid).

We have quite a large backyard and the walk isnt neccessary for her health but i feel its good. Anyways sorry back to what i was saying…i was walking and then took her to the leash free zone but dogs dig holes near the fence and she can get out under them (i dont let her off the leash) I just let her drink some water and run up the ramp etc. (i have a long retractable leash)

Anyways this man was there with his 2 malamute dogs and he said “why do you even bring your rat sized dog here..it doesnt need this space it is too small! Cant you see you are wasting your time!”

Is thought he was very rude!
Any comments on this?

I’ve been married eleven years, i am 28 yrs old. i have been preg once, with that pregnancy, I had a tubal pregnancy in 2004. following emergency surgery, I now only have one tube left. I never had periods until i got on metformin, i am not diabetic, they put me on met only for periods. I heard metformin and clomid together will make your chances even greater. I have tried clomid in the past didnt work for me . This coming year my husband and i want to try ivf, although its very expensive we just dont wanna waste anymore time and go for it. My Question is should i try the clomid and metformin together, or is my husband right we have waited so long lets not waste anymore time and money and just go have this done. When we get ready to do ivf we wanted to do the “100% money back” just incase it dont work. more expensive yes, but won’t be out of much if it dont work. If it does work well then thank the lord above!!! it will be worth every penny!!!

one more thing i am 5’3 i weigh 162lbs, im over weight. what are the guidelines for ivf? just worried about this. i have psoriatic arthritis. i take humira injections twice a month. i deff have few health issues. ive been trying to get healthier. just alot on my mind any info would help, if u have any experience with any of my questions, i appreciate any help

I feel lazy and like a bum and i feel like i’m gaining weight because of lack of exercise. I need to lose 20 pounds in 60 days, my high school graduation is in 2 months, and then i’m going to Puerto Rico with my spanish class a couple days afterwards. I weigh 140 and all the fat in my body gets stored in my stomach, making my waist look very big, and i’m stressed and terrified that I won’t be able to lose the weight in time. Please please help me and explain to me how I can go from 140 to 120 in 60 days by changing my diet. I’m so ready for whatever it is I need to do to get to my goal.
No pills or anything like that**
Ohh and the arthritis is in my shoulder, so i can’t run or do any cardio guys!

My dog has been diagnosed with arthritis, as she’s very old (maybe 12-13 years) we thought it was just another sign of old age. The vet prescribed us PREVICOX, for 1 week, then we had to bring her back for a blood test. The medication seemed to really help her loads–she had no whimpers while she was on it and was very active. However, we were unable to take her back to the vet for financial issues, we simply couldn’t afford the blood test right now. Now, her back legs seem to wobble upon first getting up in the morning even if she wants to be play. It takes her awhile to walk normally.

I want to know 3 things:
1. Is it safe to give her previcox everyday? At least until we can afford to take her back to the vet?
2. Is there a cheaper alternative?
3. Other than carrying her up and down the stairs, making sure she has a soft and comfortable place to rest, a little time in the sun–is there any other thing we can do to make our aging dog comfortable?
