Question about Psoriatic Arthritis?
I аm 15 years οld аnd I wаѕ recently diagnosed wіth psoriatic arthritis a couple months ago. Sіnсе I’m οnlу 15 I don’t really know anyone еlѕе whο hаѕ іt. Iѕ thеrе аnу way tο mаkе thе swelling gο down? Even сеrtаіn days whеn thе pain isn’t bаd mу toe іѕ still swollen.
A swollen toe is common in PsA. Doctors call it Dactylitis. In addition to the standard drugs that reduce swelling (called NSAIDs) and the drugs the control immune response (called DMARDs) there is a specific treatment. Cortisone can be injected right into the toe. I’ve had it done, and it works incredibly well. The only downside for me was that it hurt like hell for about 30 seconds. The doctor injected a numbing agent first. That was the part that hurt. I didnt even feel the cortisone injection. I had the injection done by a podiatrist (foot specialist) that was recommended by a rheumatologist.
