My dad has it (he’s 61), his mom had it for many years, I’ve had it since my late 20s. Is there anything genetic to this?

Yes osteoarthritis is a genetic disease where the body attacks the joints in an immune response, usually starting at the fingers and progressing towards the larger joints. Unfortunately for you, with both your parents suffering from it it is likely that you will have a more active version, which could mean earlier onset or increased severity
