my outside dog’s arthritis has gotten so bad in the last 2 days that he can’t stand to go to the bathroom?
hе dοеѕ nοt want tο bе touched,hе′s nοt eating,οr drinking.I hаνе taken hіm tο thе vet,thеу gave hіm pills.іf hе′s nοt eating,i don’t know hοw tο hеlр hіm.
Hе іѕ a 10 year οld malmute.Whеn i took hіm tο thе vet hе wаѕ still eating аnd somewhat аblе tο gеt up.thіѕ аll changed over night. i’ve placed a heated towel οn hіѕ back side two hrs ago.hе′s still nοt moving around
anytime a dog stops eating, it is serious. take him back to the vet or at least call your vet back and explain what is going on. They are not doing enough if u ask me.
im sorry to say but i would put him down, and put him in a better place where we wont suffer, it is hard, but its best for him
Why is your poor dog an outside dog? CRUEL! Euthanize the poor thing.
Put an old bath towel under his belly and hold an end in each hand and lift the dog that way to help him walk. The vet should have done an x-ray to see what stages of arthritis the dog is in, and what other issues he might be dealing with. Glucosamine only works in the beginning stages, so your vet needs to adjust meds for the stage your dog is in.
What age is the dog and what do you feed him? Change his diet to a BARF diet and give him some cod liver oil with every feed. Also get some liquid gucosamine and chondrotin and add that to his feeds.
Painkillers will be necessary also.
If it gets worse, I’m sorry but he may have to be put down. But not before you’ve tried the above for a few weeks. Unless he’s really getting worse, then you may have to put him down soon
Make sure he has a very soft spongy bed, but one that is easy to get up out of. A raised bed may be an idea if he’s large.
All dogs should be fed well early in life, with lots of raw food from puppyhood, and not excersised too much during the growing stage, especially large dogs.
Large dogs over the age of three should get a Glucosamine supplement every day, preferable liquid form and not 2KL form.
No dog should ever be allowed to get overweight. As a matter of fact, ever so slightly underweight dogs are healthiest.
This will prevent arthritis later in life.
Good luck!
I had a dog who died after experiencing the conditions that you described. If he is old, he might be dying of natural causes.
it’s best to put him down.
if he’s not eating, drinking, walking or any activity that a dog should be able to do then his quality of life isn’t very good.
