My mother thinks I have Psoriatic Arthritis because my father has it or something. Do I have it?
I’m 18, male. Mу mother thinks I hаνе іt bесаυѕе I hаνе acne οn mу chest/back/shoulders, bаd dandruff, аnd mу back/wrist pain.
Thing іѕ, I аm a major gamer, аnd I υѕе thе computer a lot. And I аm nοt very active, whісh іѕ probably thе reason fοr mу back/wrist pain.
Thе acne/dandruff іѕ probably frοm nοt showering аѕ much аѕ I ѕhουld. (Thе shower іѕ іn mу parents room, аnd I hаνе a messed up sleep schedule. Whісh I рlаn οn fixing.)
And, whеn exercising, οr whеn mу body heats up/cools down οr w/e, I ѕtаrt itching really bаd. I аm currently obese, bυt I’m working οn walking 5 miles per day tο drop thе weight.
Iѕ іt psoriatic arthritis οr јυѕt bаd acne аnd mу lack οf physical activity?
Alѕο, іn аn unrelated qυеѕtіοn, Sοmе times I hаνе a bit οf shoulder pain, whenever I rotate mу shoulder іn a wide circular motion, I hear a cracking/pop noise. Whу іѕ thіѕ? Iѕ іt fluid buildup?
psoriatic arthritis is not something that generally makes itself known until your early thirties, and it usually only appears in those with severe psoriasis plaques on their skin, you are too young and you don’t say you have psoriasis plaques, so I very much doubt you have psoriatic arthritis.
The cracking and popping you hear in your shoulder is the result of tight tendons and ligaments, gentle stretching done on a daily basis will resolve that for you.
Psoriatic arthritis usually comes from people who have psoriasis. i have psoriasis, and whenever i go to the doctor, they check my nails for pits in them. that is a sign. You FIRST need to be diagnosed with it. It is hereditary, but it has also been known to skip a generation as well. you could have carpal tunnel in your wrist, and weight does play a major role in this as well. You could be itching because your skin is dry.. taking showers in luke warm water, and patting dry is good. apply a good skin lubricant like aveeno or neutragena. Take an ant-flammatory pill for your pains. If that doesn’t work, go to your doctor. Good luck in loosing the weight.
I have psoriatic arthritis…and I need to ask you a few questions. Do you have psoriasis? Are you sure that dandruff on your head isn’t dandruff at all but scalp psoriasis? It is a bit rare for people to have psoriatic arthritis but not have psoriasis. Your acne has nothing to do with PA. If you’re a major gamer, it could very well be that it’s your inactivity and constant computer use that’s hurting your wrists and back. But then you said that you itch very badly when you exercise or heat up, which brings me right back to psoriasis. The same thing used to happen to me when my psoriasis was bad. Now this shoulder thing you’re describing…that really COULD be PA. That’s where mine started! And when I rotate my shoulder, you should hear the cracking and the grinding! It’s horrible!
Keep exercising. Shower more often. If you’re like most men, you’re going to hate this piece of advice, but…after your showers, you need to use a really good skin lotion. I like Cetaphil and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion. Eat food that’s good for you. Get the hell away from the games and the computer for awhile! There is a world out there, get out of your room and go experience it! But seriously, if you continue to have skin issues, go to a good dermatologist (I had to go through 5 quacks before I found a good one) and find out for sure whether or not you have psoriasis. If you do, and your joint pain persists, even though you’ve stepped away from the game system and the computer, then you’ll have to see a rheumatologist to find out if it’s really PA. Good luck to you!
