My chiropractor said I most likely have Spinal Arthritis and then recommended I start a Vitaman B regime…?
I have been going to a chiro for most of my adult life to deal with chronic back pain. Lately the backpain has been intense and is accompanied with leg numbness when I sit or bend or walk for too long. After 3 weeks with this pain, and no relief at all, she took more x-rays and said that most likely I have spinal arthritis. She then recommended that I start taking a Vitaman B complex for some relief but when I went to the pharmacy, they had never heard of that type of regime being recommended. I do not like to take pain medication as I am only 36 years old and have 5 children to keep up with. Are there other suggestions for relief, and how will a V B help me.
I have no health insurance and a Chiropractor is all I can afford.
I’m not convinced by spinal arthritis, especially in someone only 36 years old. I’m even less convinced by prescribing vitamin B complexes for pain relief (you get more than enough in a standard diet).
The way you describe it sound more like a herniated disk (numbness in legs on bending over, pain in the lower back and several pregnancies). Treatment for that is usually surgical which is a problem without insurance. Pain medication might have to be the way forward if the pain is affecting you greatly. Unless you simply try to limit your movements for a week or so and rest it, occasionally a herniated disk can fix itself if given a little time and rest.
You said you have x-rays taken of your back, do you have them personally? I wouldn’t be too suprised if you took them too a free clinic and showed them to a doc he or she would diagnose it there and then.
Best of luck, hope this helps.
