Lasting joint pain relief for 67yo Mother?
My mother’s 67, and she’s on medicare A I think, the one with more coverage.
I’m 30, I live far away, but she’s saying that she’s starting to get joint pain pretty much constantly, arthritis I would guess. She’s one of these people who doesn’t trust pharmeceuticals, doesn’t want to get hooked on a pain killer, etc. I personally have a great deal of faith in medications, for instance I find Vicodin to enhance my concentration, where I know it makes others drowsy.
She just told me she’s trying acupuncture, and she sits in a hot tub and/or swimming pool a coule times/wk, and she’s “hoping something will provide lasting relief.”
I believe the only thing she takes is ibuprofen.
I’m wondering if there’s anything I should tell her to ask the Dr. for, or maybe there are other remedies. I don’t want my mom to be walking around in pain! lol, thanks so much!
bengay heating cream. it heats up on contact and relaxes the muscles, relieving them of pain.
Take a couple of Apple cider vinegar pills every day. I find them in the store near diet products. That is how I found out, quite by accident, that they work. (didn’t do anything for a diet, however) That is all I take except an occasional Tylenol. I am 66y have had a couple of scopes on both knees that didn’t do any good. Also had the series of cartilage shots in both knees. Only worked on one. This is all that has ever worked for any period of time. Worked on my ex too. Just make sure she takes them with food.
She can have tight muscles that need to be freed up to get rid of the pains. Unfortunately there aren’t many who can do them. A year ago I met a gal who has MS and all her dr.’s told her that she had arthritis in her knees. I asked if she minded if I freed them up for her and she agreed to it. In less than five minutes she was up and walking around without her walker. She couldn’t believe it. So you have to figure out exactly what it is she has and then find one who can help. If specalists for MS can’t get it right how many other dr.’s can?
