Juvenile arthritis , can it be cured?
My daughter had it last year, she has the mildest one, the doctor says it might go in a couple of years, any info. please…

There is no cure for Arthritis. But there is Castor oil which can be rubs into the joints to help arthritis
i was told my juvenile arthritis can not be cured. and then it turned into lupus…so im screwed.
possibly…… stem cells can regrow cartilage but Bush doesn’t seem to approve of stem cells.
If I am correct juvenile arthritis is different to the usual wear and tear osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis cannot be cured by modern medicine (unless you use stem cells).
Whereas juvenile arthritis does sometimes dissapear – but the doctor will not be able to cure it with medicine. It will either dissappear on it’s own or it will stay for their whole life. Yoga can reduce the effects of arthritis greatly so maybe get the person in question to start doing yoga.
If it does not dissappear then you could volunteer for stem cell research….. you have nothing to loose. Stem cells treatments are the only possible cures for arthritis.
Also I think that juvenile arthritis doesn’t lead to lupus. Lupus is a dissease that can cause arhritis but arthritis cannot cause lupus.
JRA cannot be cured, but the symptoms can be treated and it can go into remission – though rarely. I have had RA for 9 yrs – since I was 15. My dr told me that if it goes into remission for an entire year, then there’s like a 60% or so chance that it will come back. Mine did come back for 8 months and then went into remission for 7 months – which he said is very rare. It came back again and has not yet gone back into remission. But each time it goes into remission, the chances of it coming back go down, BUT if it does come back, the remission lasts less amount of time. Confusing right?
You will just have to play with the meds until you find something that is livable and just HOPE that it will put her into remission. Do NOT waste time on “home remedies” or over the counters like ibuprofen. My first “specialist” thought I was faking pain to get attention and just gave me OTC ibuprofen. My arms are permanently damaged and cannot be straightened and caused me years and self-consciousness b/c I felt that everyone was staring at my crooked arms. By high school, I could barely walk and I had anemia from the JRA so that I couldn’t stay awake all day at school and I’d have to have a nap as soon as I got home from school. For your daughter’s future health, PLEASE do not take the wait and see approach, but find a doctor who will aggressively fight this incurable, but treatable, disease.
