Glucosamene is fine for dogs..the Vets sell it under another name and charge much more for it. They call it Cosequin…its the same thing that you can buy in the health food store for about 1/4 the cost. Always talk to the vet first,
It is not safe to give animals human drugs without FIRST talking to the vet. If the vet says ok, then they have to tell you the correct dose to give the dog. There also may be something made just for animals besides the Rimadyl.
This is a question that is best answered by your vet. Some things that are good for us are poisonous to animals. Play it safe.
Yes – Our vet gave our dog some, and he does well on it.
We give our dog generic asprin. Seems to help him.
Both of the first two answers are correct. Glocosamine Chondroitin has been shown to be helpful for the oasteoarthritis many dogs expereince. It is not a cure-all since many dogs do neot seem to benefit. As long as you floowing the dosage instrctuions for your dog’s weight and report the change in medication to you dog’s vet, you should be fine.

Glucosamine & Chondroitin has worked great for my dogs arthritis. We were told she needed to be on Rimadyl but it wasn’t doing anything. I give her 2 pills a day of Vitamin World Joint Soother and she has done a complete turn around after only a couple of weeks. It’s been a year that she’s been on these and I’m so glad that it’s helped as much as it has. I’ve heard that the liquids work very well since they get in the system much quicker.
