Is arthritis more likely caused by over use of bones or not enough?
I have heard arthritis is caused by not enough use (not enough exercise) and to much use. Which one is right or which one gives you a higher chance of getting it?

Both. No exercise, causes muscles to atrophy and they don’t have the strength to move the joints and hold them tight. Too much exercise isn’t exactly right terminology. It’s really the jarring and strain of impact and or heavy weight that can make arthritis worse. But you could swim the rest of your life without any harm.
I also believe genetics play a big part in who gets arthritis and which kind. I have Rheumatoid Arhritis in my neck. Completly genetic. As far as exercise, I do not know, but do not overlook your family history.
Stain on joints not bones can lead to arthritis. Osteoarthritis is a condition that is caused by wear and tear on joints over time. It is also caused by trauma to a joint. Other types of arthritis are not caused by over use or trauma. While it is correct that under use of your muscles will not provide the support of your joints you need. Over use leads to a higher chance. High impact exercise is the most likely culprit. Exercise is important to prevent osteoarthritis. Doing exercise correctly with out putting undue stress on your joints is important as well.
