I have arthritis in the knees and have pain at top of left calf on the side, related?
I hаνе bееn diagnose(Spelling?) wіth arthritis іn thе knees. I hаνе pain mostly аt thе top οf thе left calf аnd whаt feels lіkе shin splints іn mу left leg. Arе thеѕе symptoms interrelated? If ѕο, аrе thеrе аnу well designed braces οr treatments fοr thіѕ tο reduce pain?
Physical therapy may be worth checking into if you just started dealing with that. I would think they are related in the pain, but check out medical sites like http://www.webmd.com or http://www.mayoclinic.com to see for sure what to expect with that. Those sites may offer at home ways to confront and manage it also.
I always have trouble with arthritis in the knees for I was taught it started in the extremities where things got hard for the circulation which was a part of arthritis. For that reason I have been able to help those with ‘arthritis’ in their knees for it hasn’t been that even though diagnosed as such. Because someone doesn’t understand how to release muscles which can cause a problem they put a name on it and have left you to live with it. I have found that it is usually the tendons of the kneecaps that has shortened up pulling the kneecap up on and into the knee making it hard to bend the knee. Once you release the tendon so it goes back to it’s rightful length the pain should be gone from your knees. Here’s how to release your knees:
Kneecaps:
Do while sitting on a chair with no front cross braces.
While sitting have your leg resting in a stretched mode. Place both your thumbs, side by side, about 2 inches behind the kneecap and press down into your leg and then redirect the pressure a little towards the kneecap. After 30 seconds, slowly slide your foot back and under your chair as far as it will go, release the pressure but hold your foot there for another 30 seconds.
The pressure on the leg is the important part to make this work. If you have trouble with it not taking the first time give it another try.
So to answer if they are related, I do think that they can be and doing the release will tell you if they are or not. I don’t like going to the braces for it ends up making you depend upon them after a while because you take the normal support of your legs away from you. I don’t see how we can have so much more trouble with our legs than our forefathers did when you take into consideration how much leg work and manual labor they did do. It would seem that they should have needed braces and instead they led pretty active lives not needing anything like that. That in itself is a story that needs to be heard.
