With rheumatoid arthritis the joint swells and become very painful and over the months it slowly disfigures. There is a new drug coming out called Symphony which stops the pain totally and the joint disfiguring which is fantastic news for people with this arthritis.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder. In easy terms it means that your body is attacking itself. RA is most present in the joints of the body, hands, feet, knees, every where there is a joint it can be there. RA is asymmetrical. Which means that if one joint hurts lets say on left hand then the same joint will most likely hurt on your right hand. RA can also have extreme fatigue. That is because your body is fighting some thing or in this your body. The same as when your sick you get tired. The pain is most prominent in the mornings when you wake up. It takes longer for the pain to lessen up. About a few hours after you wake up. This can include weakness that is caused by the swelling of the joint(s), and the pain. This is how I describe the pain: its like when you sprain your wrist or ankle really bad. Every movement hurts like heck. RA can also affect other parts of you body as well. The eyes, heart, and lungs. This are rare but still possible. The best way to find out what is going is be aggressive with the doctors. Make sure that you find a Rheumatlagist. They would be the one to help you out the most.
Are you taking any meds to help you out?? Prednisone is one of the most common drugs that are given in the early stage of diagnoses. And is also give to help you through bad Flairs later on If you have RA. Flairs are when the pain and swelling worsen more then normal. It can get in the way of every day life, and can last for a couple of days to weeks at a time, some times they can last for months.
