I am so sorry for your relative… this disease has no cure and can only be managed. My mother-in-law suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for years and never digested the fact that the disease not only affects the bones, but also internal organs.

please seek help from a rhuematologist if you can. rhuematoid arthritis is a tricky disease and there are medicines that can help. some over the counter things like ibuprofen which relieves pain and swelling can help to some degree but they can’t affect the disease itself. good luck. also look for the book “Arthritis for Dummies” (for real!) it has exercises and things to do for your arthritis in it.
