Uric acid is the “bad-boy” in gout.. Drink plenty of fluids..this helps remove some of the uric acid..low fat dairy products (low fat cheese is good) and a diet rich in whole grains helps..many people find that sour red cherries or cherry juice gives them lots of relief. Some findings have found that mushrooms can cause flair ups in some people..just remember to drink all the liquids you can and I hope this helps…:)
You need to reduce the amount of uric acid produced by your body. You also need to increase the amount of uric acid excreted by the urine. You have to avoid “high purine foods” such as red meat, offal (liver, lungs, kidneys, tripe etc), some beans and fish. You can ask a dietician to prepare a list of food for you.
Then you also need to drink plenty of water and fluids to keep yourself hydrated so as to increase kidney excretion of uric acid. Alcohol is not a good fluid, hehehe. In fact, too much alcohol ingestion may trigger an attack of the gout.
