I’ve been to 7 physicians, 3 dermatologists, and a rheumatologist.

33 y.o. healthy male with no familial history of any of the following
Symptoms: (for the past 12 years)

1. Psoriasis
2. Psoriatic Arthritis
3. Excessive/constant mucus production (from sinus)
4. Ever-present, painful internal hemorrhoid.
5. Body odor has changed to strong ammonia odor.
the symptoms are #1-5. obviously not concerned whether anyone’s qualified. not necessarily going to act on anyone’s opinion either. so diagnose away. sometimes you post a tough question and get a great answer. you never know
and i will add that those symptoms are most definitely not ‘guesses’.

I have immune-system diseases (Psoriasis, PA and Multiple Sclerosis) which are caused essentially by Leukocytes forming distinct groups (patrolling for pathogens locally) as opposed to uniformly (normal immune system)

The result is an overzealous immune system that attacks everything desperately, including its own tissues, skin (Psoriasis), joints, (Psoriatic Arthritis) and myelin sheath (Multiple Sclerosis)

I think it’s obvious that the cause of the disease is the immune-system thinking that the organism is not safe, or exists in conditions requiring vigilant immune response. My guess is that the immune-response, in conjunction with the brain, has forged a false association of some kind. There’s nothing there to fight.

I’m aware of Goldenseal and Echinacea and “Immune Boosters” etc. But these are not what to take for an overactive immune system. The opposite is needed.

Curing these diseases means convincing the immune-system that it can just chill out and vacate the battlefield.

It goes without saying that feeling ‘safe’ or engaging in meditation or other types of spiritual activities are going to globally affect the body, including the immune system. But this isn’t enough, there must be additional ways.

(Sorry for the lengthy, but necessary overview) – so now – how do you calm or relax the immune system?

I’m 21 years old and I get my blood pressure taken regularly (I see a number of specialists). I’ve always been told it’s a bit low. I faint once every few months, usually when I stand up to quickly, blow my nose or am having a shower. I fainted once after a steroid injection in my ankle.

My rheumatologist took my blood pressure at my last appointment and said “man I wish my blood pressure was that low” (he’s a weird old man). I got my report from the appointment and it said my blood pressure was 80/50. I was lying down at the time and I know it drops even further when I stand up.

I drink plenty of water (at least 4 liters a day). My GP told me to eat more salt, my Mum says that’s not healthy. I exercise 30 minutes (walking) each day. Eat plenty of fruit and veges (I’m gluten free, I have Celiac Disease). My rheumatologist is working towards a diagnosis of Sjogren’s and Lupus/Psoriatic Arthritis.

Is there anything I can do to raise it? Is it a problem? Or at least make me faint and feel dizzy less.

Thanks.
Robert, I drink a lot of water because my mouth is always dry (Sjogren’s). I’m not sure if I’ve had my sodium levels checked, no one has ever mentioned it. I don’t like the taste of those flavoured drinks and they just make me crave more water. My Mum was just trying to be helpful. I do add salt to things I eat like scrambled eggs. I have things like rice crackers that are salty. I only add iodized salt because I have a goiter too (possibly a thyroid problem, but my GP said concentrate on getting the Lupus thing diagnosed, then move on to the next thing… my life is so much fun… (sarcasm!) )

I can’t stay sat in the same place for more than 10 mins, I can’t bend down for more than 30 seconds without my back going all stiff, then I walk around with a like ‘hunchback’ because I can’t straighten my back.. I always am having problems with my neck, so if I have to turn around I have to turn my whole top half, but that doesn’t work sometimes as my back/spine is stiff most of the time..

Is there any remedies that could help me? Bearing in mind I can’t swallow tablets either..

Thank you!!

I’m 21 years old and have a few autoimmune diseases (Celiac Disease confirmed, my rheumatologist is leaning towards Lupus or Psoriatic Arthritis and Sjogren’s Syndrome). I’ve been having my liver function tested as part of my regular blood tests and it’s been elevated the past 3 months.

I’m on Meloxicam/Mobic, Plaquenil, Doxycycline and Prednisone for flares.

I’ve asked my GP and my rheumatologist about my liver function test and they won’t explain what’s going on. My rheumatologist said “it’s not seriously high, but we’ll keep an eye on it” and my GP hasn’t got a clue. I know one month one of the tests in the liver function test was elevated and the next month that one was fine, but another one was elevated.

I’m having it checked every 4 weeks. It’s making things difficult because my rheumatologist can’t really trial any other medication until my liver function comes back to normal. My joints are flaring up and I’m having to go on Prednisone a lot more.

What could cause this?

Thanks.

I was wondering what the best treatments for psoriatic arthritis are. I was diagnosed with it in my back, hips and hands and the pain is severe. I am going to my doctor to discuss the pain getting worse and to see what can help quell the flair ups ,help inflammation and what meds are most effective for the severe pain since darvocet does not help the severe pain in my sacram and hips. Has anybody been treated for this and recommend treatment options to ask my doctor about ,especially cheaper medications .

I have had a lot of dental work from acid damage from reflux. For at least 2 years I have been smelling a really foul odor from the top back tooth when I press pn the gums that my dentist is not picking up. (I have always had a very strong sense of smell.) 2 years ago my rheumatologist put me on 2 rounds of erythromycin which did not help. My dentist keeps telling me that my gums did look great and that I do not have a cavity problem but only have to control the acid reflux. The same smelly tooth had a piece break off last week and after a long weekend I went to the dentist to repair. My gums had swelled a lot and I think the smell has gotten much worse. I have been using peridex mouthwash for a week and while my gums color looks great and do not bleed, I still have some swelling and that awful smell Would it be better to take oral antibiotics along with the peridex or will it work eventually on it’s own. I need to add that I have psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis which can hide an infection. I am on remicade and methotrexate as immunosuppressive therapy. I have not had a cold or flu in at least 30yrs. I am 46 now. I see my dentist every 6 months and have no plaque buildup. If the peridex is going to work on it’s own, how long will it take? should I just pull the tooth? My back teeth are small to look at- I think they are normal but only stick out of the gums a little more than 1/8 inch
