I am a 23 year old female with psoriasis. I have it on my elbow and one foot and just in the last week I now have it on my eyelid. For a long time i thought i had athletes foot and nail fungus then come to find out that my dad has the same problem. a few months ago maybe a bit longer my ankle on the same foot with the psoriasis has started hurting I have to limp to walk. Has anyone else had this problem?
I’ve an atopic eczema inherited from our relatives, but i have an ointment that makes it less active on times, at some moment. Usually when i do nothing (like sitting, laying down on bed) its like my left ankle hurts, its like locked and just.. hurts badly, it takes like 15 minutes to be gone. Now i was wondering if its possible for an 18 yrs. old to have an arthritis? Thank you, answers are much appreciated
Let me start off by saying that I am 18 years old and I had pain and swelling on a few of my fingers and toes back in December. Went to the ER and was diagnosed with MRSA. After 8 days on Bactrim with no improvement, my general doctor said she had no clue and called an infectious disease who turned us to a dermatologist. We watched it for 3 weeks and after a few cycles of swelling and waning, we went to a rheumatologist. My history of psoriasis lead her to think it was Psoriatic Arthritis but we can’t get any solid clues to hint such as blood tests or damaged joints.
We tried Medrol and I had an allergic reaction so I have been switched on 10mg prednisone for a month to date which took the pain away, but not a lot of the swelling. In addition I have had a dry cough for about 4 weeks now and I am not due back to the doctor until April. What should I do?
1. I was recently fired. I had permission from my work to take a week off to visit my family for Christmas. The day I was to return home, by train, there was severe storms in the area and I could not make it to the station. I informed my manager and she approved me to have another week off. After I returned to Texas, a full 3 days before I was to return to work, I received a TEXT message from my my manager saying that the owner had told her to remove me from the schedule permanently, and to return my store key that weekend. I complied and wanted to speak to the owner who was in the store at the time but he left immediately as I made eye contact. I has since then shopped at the location and have remained on good if not friendly terms with the manager and other employees.
2 As stated above I’m currently unemployed. I have severe psoriasis, and I feel that I have been discriminated because of it. I know of one incident that involves Pizza hut. An ex-roommate of mine is the assistant store manager and has attempted to get me a job there. I’ve applied twice for delivery driver, since they never come in direct contact with food, and have not received an interview even though they have needed people desperately and have hired 2 people for the desired position. Now I go once a month to the doctor to clear up my skin and upon turning in my application told the manager that I would do anything necessary to comply with health codes. Today i talked to my friend the assistant manager and he said the sole reason for me not being hired was my skin condition.
I’m not the sue happy type of person but I have great references and have not been out of a job this long in the past 6 years. And with the job market the way it is things are getting really bad, not to mention the trip home took almost all my money.
It also should be noted that number 1 is a small business, a convenience store, but they are affiliated with the Shell corporation.
If Either yes or no would you please elaborate as to why not. also it should be stated that i worked for the job in 1 for over a year without so much of a write up, and that had i not been granted the extra week by my manager I would have found a way back to Texas sooner.
As for number 2 the assistant manger has agreed to testify on my behalf even at the risk of his job as long as I can make a case that is in favor of me.
My reasoning for number to Is the ADA has determined severe psoriasis as a disability.
While use of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is now routine, the ADA can be both more complicated and more difficult to qualify under. To qualify under the ADA, you must:
1. Work for a company that employs 15 or more employees; and
2. Have an impairment that substantially limits a “major life activity,” such as walking, breathing, or providing basic care for yourself (usually, to meet such a strict requirement, YOU MUST HAVE A SEVERE CASE OF PSORIASIS or psoriatic arthritis); or a history of such an impairment; or be regarded as having such an impairment; and
3. Be able to successfully perform the essential functions of your job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Has anybody had to take any of these medications for Rheumatoid Arthritis ,Crohns or Psoriatic Arthritis. I was told I will have to be treated by DMARDS but can not afford the newer drugs/biological meds. I am trying to see what people can recommend in the line of the synthetics like methotrexate , sulfasalazine or the like. I am worried about price and nasty side effects. I am concerned about the price becuase to me 100.00 is a lot for medication but to my doctor that is cheap so I want to know if any of the drugs are cheap in generic form but with minimal side effects and helpful.
I’ve had joint pain my entire life. Im now almost 29. it started with knee and ankle pain and now is more painful and effects my shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. I recently started to go to a specialist to find out whats going on. the first one did blood work and something came back positive so she referred me to an arthritis specialist. He basically told me he is sure I have Psoriatic arthritis. he noticed i have tiny lil pits in my fingernails( looks like they’ve been poked with a sewing needle) and right away made th assumption that i have psoriasis. i have never had any of the skin rashes or other symptoms of psoriasis. i find it strange and am very sceptical of this assumption. any and all info shared would be greatly appreciated!! thank u
im 17 years old and i had strep throat which gave me skin psoriasis (the doctor diagnosed this) and i looked it up and i think it might be guttate psoriasis. i have the spots on my arms, legs, stomach, hands and feet. theyre not too bad and im using hydrocortisone creme but i read this online “Psoriasis can also cause inflammation of the joints, which is known as psoriatic arthritis. Ten to up to 40 percent of people with psoriasis have psoriatic arthritis.”
but is that the only thing? and is there no way to know for sure what it could potentially turn into?
I have had alot of health problems in my life heart problem psorisis psoriatic arthritis and it’s all on going now I lay here at night scared something else is going to hit me and I’m truly scared I might get cancer I’m 24 and don’t want to think like this what should I do?
