Dog Arthritis Archives

I am going to call the vet on Tuesday about this, but two days ago he started licking his front legs and the front of his chest uncontrollably. He also continues to lick at the air and he will do this for a LONG time. Now I read online somewhere about arthritis, but my dog is not even 3, however. We let him outside and I feel it might have something to do with him digging around in the ground, I am not sure. He seems to be fine otherwise, I am just trying to ask someone who might know about this. He is a Chocolate Labrador Retriever and he is going to be 3 in October. I know labs are prone to hip displaysia I think, but it has nothing to do with his hips.
Also, I think he may have an irritation to a over the counter flea and tick medication. Forgot all about that, I’ll have to give him a bath, and I think it could be dry skin also.

My 15 year old lab/terrier mix has recently started making snorting sounds whenever she sniffs around, and almost sounds like a pig. She has other medical problems like arthritis in her back legs, allergies (which cause her to scratch herself a lot), and weight loss.

Has anyone had an older dog with this problem?

shes 11 years old and has arthritis in her back leg. will she be ok? my dad said make sure she drinks a lot but i still feel anxious

She is 15 yrs old and recently has not been wanting to eat and is hard for her to walk, I am guessing due to arthritis in her back legs. My friend has been giving her natural medicine for her joints, which I think may have caused her to have a change in bowl movement and her not wanting to eat. After two days, she did eat one wiener dog and that was it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? What is good for arthritis pain (for dogs) and what could help to make her want to eat?

Thank you!
Any idea on how to make her feel a little better and maybe want to maker her eat at least a little each day?

My black lab died in November 2006 of bone cancer. She had a swollen ankle for a year, but my moron dad said it was just arthritis. She was at the age when most dogs may get arthritis, but I did not believe that arthritis was the cause. Finally, six months before her death, she had an x-ray and was diagnosed, but by then, it was too late. Unlike other dogs, who would have gone off to be alone, she came into the kitchen and dropped to the floor. Her head lay in my lap as her body grew cold. She had no burial. She was given to the vet and I never knew what was done with her body.
Now after three years I have been having a dream of going on a walk. I see her and two other dogs; my dogs, all of whom were dead as well. I walked over to them. To me, they were neither dead, nor alive. I only knew that it had been a long while since I had seen them. But as I get closer, a feeling of dread, and terror washes over me. After this, I realized that I wasn’t seeing what I thought I was seeing. The faces of the three pets changed to death. Their eyes were glazed over, which is one of the first signs of decomposition. Their skin was clinging to the bone. I could see almost every bone in their bodies. Some hair was missing and parts of bone were exposed. Panting turned into snarling as they bared their gruesome teeth. I try to run, but they are too fast. They are two feet behind me when I wake up with a jump as if I were having dreams of falling down stairs. The little chihuahua curled up next to me becomes a sudden fear, but I shall not put her in the laundry room just because of a dream.
I believe all dreams are symbols, you just need to find what those symbols are and what they mean, which is why I included the history in the first paragraph. None of them got buried. Once they died, the bodies were sent to the vet. Could this mean something? I want to sleep without Dixie, Tiger, and Tiffy snarling at me in my dreams.
Thanks for your help.

And could you also tell me more awhat these dogs can do exactly and where could i find more information at. im asking because my grandma lives alone in another state ( we tried to get her to come live with or near us but she doesnt want to) and she has rhumatoid arthritis and has had knee replacments in both of her legs. She can still walk and can remember stuff very well but imean she cant get around like she used to and cant lift things like she used to. She also does not have a car as when she was driving she was hit by another car and does not have the money riht now to pay for a new car. could a service dog help her in chores like getting something that may be too heavy for her or just giving her some company as we do visit her but we cant visit her always. thanks for awnsering in advance.
i meant heavy as in a plastic laundry basket or a small jug

My poor old guys bottom teeth are almost all gone.I feed pedigree senior dry and soak it so its moist for him.He is a big dog so he still eats alot despite his age.Is their any moist foods for older dogs in large bags? 2nd part- Is it ok to give tylenol for arthritis? Our other dog had surgery and told me I could only give tylenol not advil. There seem to be to many replies to this questions with half being yes and half being no. I know Tylenol is not fatal, because my other dog took it for a week with no side effects of death. Please help him. This is probably going to be his last year with me and I have been blessed with him for the entire 15 years of his life.He has spent every day of his life by my side, lieterally:)

I have a red nose pitbull who is 20-22 years old, shes definitely got arthritis in her back legs she has a hard time moving and getting up sometimes you can tell she cant take it and she has to sit down you can also tell that they are stiff. Im sure this is uncomfortable for her and plus sometimes she whines a little when she walks. We have had her since a pup and im trying to find an arthritis medicine for dogs that is safe for her. Im sure she is going to go soon but while shes still here id like to do what I can to help her with this discomfort. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well as any information on the medicine
Thank you!
My dads ex was a vet tech and she would get her meds but since they split she decided to be mean and not even tell us the name of it. I dont live with my father or the dog I am married so I cant just go take her to the vet while im there and my dad is very busy.

My aunt’s dog just walks around and then just cries in pain like if someone stepped on him. He’s about 10 or 11 yrs old. My sister thinks it could be arthritis. What’s really wrong?
