He has had about 5-6 seizures in the last month and a hlaf…he has no other significant health problems with him besides minor arthritis and the vet said there is nothing that he can tell that is causing the seizures. This is a very saddening situation.
I have taken him to the vet after he had 3 seizures in 24 hours and the vet said he cant tell what is causing them and can do nothing about it.
Dog Arthritis Archives
My dog is 13 years old. About three days ago I noticed she will wake up in the middle of the night and just lay there and start moving back and forth, and her legs will twitch and jerk. She’ll then start walking from room to room and lay in each room for about five minutes, and then get up again. She has arthritis but I don’t think that has anything to do with it, but it might I guess. What could cause this?
I’m pretty sure it’s just arthritis, but my dog is really sore and he can barely move. If he tries to stand up he starts whimpering. It’s so sad I want to help him, but I don’t think there’s much I can do. Can I give him ibuprofen or something?
if you need to know he’s a 10 year old, soft coated wheaten terrier.
I did massage him, and I’m going to wait another day or so before I take him to the vet. the vet usually says there’s nothing I can do that’ll be $5,000. and the ibuprofen I guessed he probably wouldn’t be able to take it but I just wanted to make sure
Okay so we have two dogs (lab and german shepard). In the winter we used to keep them outside because they really like it more (obviously with all the nessesities). With the winters being how they have been, and my dogs both having arthritis (they are 12yrs old now), I thought that it would be a good idea to have them in the house. The only problem with that is that about 8 hours per day, nobody is home and our german shepard (male) likes to go around and mark his territory. So I was wondering what some ideas were for housing… need it soon… THANKS
EDIT: Actually our dog “houses” are the Igloos… I personally think they look cooler!
Is it okay to give a dog baby aspirin for seeming arthritis?
I have a 7 year old chow/wolf mix and he has been limping for a while. he ways about 150lbs, and eats a good portion of neutriants every day. He is a family pet and we havbe taken him to several doctors, but they all said it was nothing to worry about. The last time a vet told me that i lost my 3 year old border collie.. you can see why i dont trust there diagnosis. I have a close freind that did a project for her ap class on hip dysplayshia in different breeds of dogs and chow chows, and wolves are at the low raking score. so i highly doubt that it could be H.D.
Theres is also a possability of arthritis but it is very slim. his conditions seem to get worse and then better periodicly, but it has started to beacome worse and cause him to take a while to recouperate. I any of you face or have faced the same challenge as I please let me know. I would never think of amputating his leg (only if totaly necissary), so please try to obstain from advision so.
By the way im 13.. so bnice C.
not sure if our lab is pregnant yet, but she has been known to have arthritis. is it safe to give her ascriptin for her joint pain?
We have a 14 yr. old Siberian Husky who has developed arthritis. He’s stiff when getting up and sitting/laying down. Because of some elevated liver enzymes, he cannot take any prescription arthritis meds. He is taking Tramadol for pain and a joint supplement (Super Joint Enhancer) from PetMeds. His arthritis has not gotten any worse on the Joint Enhancer, but it hasn’t really made a visible difference either. I found a Joint Rescue and Supplement on petwellbeing.com, but it only has 1 review. There are a bunch of different supplements out there “sworn to work” too. Does anyone give their older dog a supplement for arthritis that has made a big difference & that they would recommend? Jake (our Husky) thanks you!
The Tramadol for pain control is from his Vet, but she suggested we keep him on a supplement as well. The current ones are Glucosamine/Condroitin.
When I take my dog out for a walk, we always play fetch downhill with a launch and tennis ball. I try not to over work her, but she comes home with a sore front paw each time. I take her for normal runs with just a frisbee sometimes as well but she still gets sore paws! Is it arthritis?! Please, I’m worried.
She is an Australian Shepherd.
