Does anyone have any advice on how to urge my father into getting treated for his Hep C? The doc’s found out he had it when he went to get life insurance. Unfortunately, Hep C means no life insurance.

So, now that he knows he’s got it, and Rheumatoid Arthritis, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can convince him to get treated for Hep C? Its contagious and kills people, and I’d really like to have my Dad around a lot longer.
It is Chronic, and the problem is, since his divorce from my mother, he could care less about my brothers and myself. He breaks plans almost 100% of the time and ignores any attempt at contact.

shes 6 and a half, been losing muscle and fat around the spine and hips, vet said it was from age( shes an ex breeding rabbit), she also has arthritis in her joints. she was diagnosed with adenacarcinoma of the uterus (cancer) lastweek, vet says its cureable if i get her desexed, which im willing to do but…

if i do get her the surgery i feel like im just prolonging her suffering and i dont want to keep her alie for my emotional sake, i want whats best for her and so far all the vet nurses and vets are saying that the surgery is risky in a rabbit her age and that it wouldnt be a good idea because she should just be left to be comfortable and at peace untill the cancer pain really makes her suffer, instead of removing an organ which may cure her, but chances are its spread to others already, the vet says the surgery will be traumatic for her and theres not much i can do for her arthritic feet and hips so if i do get the surgery, she’ll be in pain for longer.
.

please help, do i operate, or make her cmfortable? im willing to buy pain killers for her, i want whats best for her, not to prolong her suffering so that im emotionaly satisfied

I was Dx-ed with Moderate Plaque Psoriasis and Psorotic Arthritis with nail dystrophy back in 2006. It eventually got to the point I was put on Enbrel because the pain in my extreme lower back was so bad I couldn’t get out of bed in the mornings and my fingernails came off. I did great on the Enbrel till January of 2010 when I developed HPV legions. I’ve had colorectal surgery 3 times since then and because Enbrel really hurts your immune system, they are asking me to not take it any more so the virus can clear itself. Now I’m stuck not only with the pain of the virus (its in a very bad place for pain) but also the seizing pain from my PA. I’ve noticed that when I’m recovering from surgery I can’t take my Enbrel but they give me medication for the pain of the procedure recovery. I’ve noticed that this medication also greatly improves my PA pain and I feel like a can lead a semi productive life again. Do you think it would be reasonable to seek help for my pain while I’m off my medication for PA? Since I’ve had this surgery 3 times I’ve become a bit resistant to the medication and I do have minor withdrawals when I stop taking the pills. I would rate my daily pain right now as about an 8 out of 10…around the same pain level as when I had gout. It’s always a very difficult topic to bring up to my doctor as I have some weird guilt about asking for narcotics and I don’t know why because I generally feel I need help and I don’t abuse medications. What would be a good way for me to bring this up? Not looking to justify my decision…just looking for an honest opinion from someone in the medical field.

My doctor called and said I ha a stress fracture in both my legs/ankle area. My right ankle has been throbbing since the summer but hurts to touch right above it on my leg. (it’s my inner ankle too). So finally a couple weeks ago we go a bone scan an both Les came up w/ stress fractures. My left leg has never bothered m b4 but it did hurt to touch right above the ankle a little. The doctor sai the right leg was a lot worse. He’s sending me to a sports medicine Doctor tht I’m going to this week. (I forgot to tell u I am a dancer and almost 16 and female). I have competitions coming up and the docto said he’s not sure if I’ll be able to compete and I could be castes but he’s not sure and it’s up to the orthopedics.

Also I’ve had this raised bruise on my Right leg for a few month and I still hurts to touch it’s on my shin. I’m pretty sure thts not where the stress fracture is b/c my ankle has been hurting a while b4 I got tht bruise but could I hve a fracture there too?

Is it normal to have “growing pains”/ achey legs eveyday when sitting at a desk or standing? I think I could have arthritis.

Do I have stress fractures of the tibia or ankle?

Do you know what they’re going to do for double stress fractures?

i asked this question before but i didn’t get much of helpful answers. So i shall mention a little more about our family in order to get some helpful answers. So I’m 33, a mother of two boys who are 7 and 10. My husband is around 35 and has a job of accountancy. Two years ago, i was suffering from an ovarian cancer. The best way was to remove them both by surgery and we were ready to take that decision. So i went through surgery and had them removed. Then just a month after the surgery, i went through panic attacks because i was psychological disturbed after the surgery. That took me about 1 year and 2 months to recover. My husband was very caring and a couple of times he told me that he was totally exhauted because he also has a job and then taking care of me. So we decided to hire a kinda live in babysitter to take care of me and the kids until i was totally ready to take control of the household. So finally we paid her and we didn’t need her anymore. My husband was happy. His parents invited us for a dinner and everything was just perfect. 3 months ago, i started complaining about pain in hips. My husband took it lightly and i also thought it was just a pain you know. I suffered from mild pain for about a month. We thought it was just because keeping the house and then dealing with the little guys. Moreover, my husband would often crack jokes about it until it became severe and the sleepless nights. We visited a doctor and after some days, he handed me my reports saying that I’m diagnosed with hip arthritis in initial stages. From that day, my husband started acting ridiculous. I’m going through treatments. He comes home from job at about 6Pm and he is kinda like not even bothering to ask how was my day. I manage things alone and i told him to cut back some hours but he said he won’t. Moreover, he told me that he wish he had no family. He said that out of blue when he was lost in thoughts. I cried a lot that night & slept with the kids. I don’t know what to do.

I know, it sounds a bit silly but my diagnosis nor my treatments could be considered formal.
I’ve had arthritis my whole life but it only came out when I when I was 8 in a flare up: A terrible one that lasted almost a month, and took a month to recover from. I had such a high fever that, obviously, I was too sick to remember much including how I was treated and what triggered most pain.
I was only seen by a rheumatologist about two years ago with no treatments working or even a proper diagnosis (other than the arthritis part of it).
Anyway, lately I noticed I’ve been getting off and on pain in my normally afflicted joints, and that pain is almost throbbing sometimes. Also I get general pain around those joints, but more so an achy pain. I’ve been stiffer (hearing more cracks and pops, ha ha) too. I lost my appetite and I’ve been getting headaches: I don’t know how well those two tie in, especially because I’ve been taking methotrexate in pill form (I’ve had it injected in the past) as well as zofran.
Are these symptoms generally related to a flare up?
And yes, I know I should consult my doctor but I don’t want my parents thinking I’m just being dramatic about something without evidence first. Anyway, doctor’s never really talked to me about flare ups in the past so I’m honestly clueless.

My wife has been having serious difficulties with her joints, fatigue, etc. Got bad enough that she ended up losing her job. Doctor told her a couple weeks ago she has rheumatoid arthritis, and that he wanted to do more tests for fibromyalgia. He started her on some medications, but then I got laid off from work! I found a new job, but I learned today that they have a three month waiting period before health benefits kick in (this is the first time an employer of mine did that, came as a surprise). She has medications for pain, as well as psychiatric medications to treat bipolar disorder and anxiety. Some can be found generic, but others are insanely expensive (Seroquel = $800 for a months supply? Really?). I also don’t know what medications her doctor will prescribe, or how much her doctors appointments will be.

In addition, we have a four year old son. Luckily I had enough notice before I lost my last job to get him completely up to date on his physical/immunization/etc. I also have anxiety issues myself that have been treated in the past, but I tried not to medicate. Things have been very tough lately, though, and I was thinking of going back for treatment.

We live in NY state. I’m worried social services is going to see I’m employed and make a decent salary ($48k) and tell me to shove off, but even with my salary I can’t afford all these medications or doctors appointments!

Any suggestions? Options?
Thanks for the answers so far. I worked for this employer for 8 months before layoffs (school teacher, moved here for the job and low enrollments forced the program to close). They did offer COBRA but it was at an insane price ($1600/month). As I was unemployed and only receiving about half of my salary through UI, and my wife was completely unemployed, I would not have been able to even pay the rent, let alone pay for groceries. We already turned her car in to the bank to lessen the monthly bills.
