Arthritis Symptoms Archives

Today, my muscles and joints swelled and seized up so badly that it got hard to breathe and pulled my shoulders and elbows out of joint. I went to the doctor, and they just gave me two shots of Toradol and Phenegran. This has happened only once before, but it wasn’t this severe. That was when I was on Xanax XR. I never had joint pain or anything until I took that medication. It says that is one of the side effects. BUT, I’ve been off of it for three months. Why would my muscles and joints screw up so severely now? I never got my limberness back, and I’ve had more pain since that medication, but my whole body had never seized up like that before. They didn’t give me enough Toradol because it didn’t help much. When my other doctor gave me that shot the first time, it worked immediately. So why would a “medication” still be affecting me this badly? I am really doubting that I came down with a sudden case of arthritis at age 22 with no symptoms beforehand. How can I fix this?
Also, I’ve been vaccinated for Tetanus and am up to date on that shot too. And I know it wasn’t an allergic reaction because I haven’t eaten or been exposed to anything unusual in the last few days. How did Xanax XR damage my body that badly? I wasn’t even on it very long. Could I the damage be permanent???

I went to the doctor for a check up and she ran some blood tests. sugar, blood count, liver and kidney functions are good, no bacterial infections but she said my inflammatory count was a lil high. was a 1.6 when normal is .9. so shes testing me for arthritis, im not really having any symptoms but i just got good insurance so i want everything tested. what could this mean? something is inflammed?
It was my CRP test that came back positive, I’m still waiting for the RH test results as well as some other tests. It’ll be nice to know I guess, so I’m just going to deal with that when and if it happens.
I meant RF test…

I have torn disk in my back and neck and arthritis in my neck as well (I have a lot more stuff, but these are my major complaints) My doctor sent me to a pain specialist and he thinks I have sleep apnea, that it may be why I am in pain and also why I can’t lose weight. Anyone else out there have Sleep Apnea and what are their symptoms? Did it help anyone else with loosing weight????

I’m 16.
My mother has Lupus and I know that it can lead onto arthritis and Diabetes as my mother has contracted both due to lupus.
But I’m wondering is it an inherited disease?
As far as I know only my mother has it. I’m not too sure which strain it is.
She didn’t contract her symptoms for lupus until she was 20
So the doctors don’t feel the need to test me yet.
But back to my main question.
Is it inherited?

Over the past few months, I’ve been having a reoccuring pain in my right hand. It stems from the base of my thumb, where it meets the bone of my index finger. It will often fade for a few weeks, then start up again, often when I do something that involves my thumb on that finger, such as playing my cello for extended periods of time.

I’m only sixteen, so I don’t believe it’s arthritis. I also looked up the symptoms, and it doesn’t sound like arthritis either. I feel pain while lifting things, holding things, and also if I lean on my hand. If I try to roll my wrist around, it hurts. I also feel pain when moving my thumb into some positions.

My mother has been convinced it’s just a tendon that needs to be stretched, and has refused to take me to see a doctor. However, now I’ve started to feel pain across the other areas where my fingers meet my wrist, and she says we’ll ask about it at my next physical, which may be up to a month from now, depending on when she can get an appoinment.

I would just like to know what this possibly could be, and if I should be concerned about it. Can it wait until a month? Or should I see a doctor now?

For about a year now my mother, 48 years of age, has been getting severe nerve pains all throughout her joints, i.e. shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, knees, and ankles.

Those pains she describes as if she was getting electrical shocks & at times as if her bones were breaking. She’s already seen her doctor who did tests and said her bones have some minor arthritis, yet there should be no symptoms for it since it’s only minor & can still be treated.

I did some research and I believe that what she has is Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy since the symptoms seem to be the same as what she’s going through.

If anybody can help me by giving my information on what she may have and how she can go about making the pain less severe I will be greatly thankful.

I’ve had problems with my knees for many years [not by injury, just grown a funny way] but often lately the pain in my knees is quite bad. I’ve also often had pain in my ankles. And recently also in my hips. And it’s mostly on the left side of my body. Left knee all the time. Left hip, but will move to right hip when i start putting more weight on it to take away from left hip! And left ankle more than right ankle.
It doesn’t ALWAYS hurt, the knee pain is always there but kind of used to it and its in the background a bit. But when all 3 knee, ankle, and hip start to hurt its horrible [usually starts as bad knee pain, then other parts start to hurt]
I’ve taken glucosamine and condrioton tablets, and it helps slightly.
But I’d prefer something more effective, and also would like an explanation as to why this is happening!
Although I know very little about it, arthritis has been a thought. But the thing is, I’m only a teenager!!
Is it common for a teenager to get arthritis? If so, any important specific symptoms other than joint pain that I should look out for?
Is it worth going to a doctor?
Or just any other advice for treating the pain, etc, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

When I lay down, within an hour I am in horrid pain. Bringing me to tears and moaning in my sleep… (Both sides are equal)…the pressure on the hip I am laying on at the time is really bad and I find myself flipping from side to side all night. I sleep with a pillow between my knees because my knees hurt bad as well. I get shooting pains all over from my waist down. I also get stabbing sensations like needles. No rhyme or reason…no real pattern. I have Fybro, arthritis and hyper mobility syndrome. These symptoms are new within the last 6 months. Could they be symptoms of these or something else? I was diagnosed several years ago. Is it possible to develop new issues after so long? If not, what else could be causing this much pain?

My mom who is in her mid to late forties is starting to feel signs of week knees. She works at an office that requires her to walk up and down a set of stairs about 5-7 times a day. It’s not an extensive set of stairs but she she is beginning to feel pain and weakness in her knees. She also feels a slightly shakiness from the inside of her knees. Could it be a weak cartilage? Is it mild or the beginning stages of arthritis in the knees? She’s never has these symptoms before.

Can you suggest any over-the-counter medications for knee health?

Last October I woke up and my leg was hurting and by the end of the day I could not move anymore. I went to the ER and they asked did a pregnancy test and found out I was one or two weeks pregnant. So instead of X-rays they did MRI’s and ultrasounds. They found fluid in my hip which gave me arthritis from my hip to my knee and that is why I was having trouble with my leg. But I am 20 yrs old (19 at the time) and do not really play sports. So they ran a bunch of tests and I came up negative for everything. I spent 8 days in the hospital. They tested me for Lyme’s disease 3 times and I came up negative every time though they were convinced that it what gave me arthritis. I have experienced all the symptoms except for the rash. Because I was pregnant they put a pic line in my arm and treated me with Rocephin for a month. I am still experiencing fatigue and my leg feels like it is getting worse. I can not stand on my left leg at all, I have to keep my weight on my right side. And some days I can barley move.

Unfortunately I just got a new job so I currently do not have health insurance, I am just trying to figure out what I should do so I have a few questions. What exactly is Rocephin? Should I keep taking the test for Lyme’s? And what should I be doing about my arthritis? What do you think are my best options?
