Arthritis Diet Archives
Product Description
Arthritis affects millions of people throughout the world and while its treatment is usually medical or surgical, there exists an increasingly large body of evidence concerning the positive effects of nutrition on the condition.
There are over two hundred forms of rheumatoid disease, with conditions varying in prevalence. In this important title the authors have focussed on osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the most common arthritic diseases with the largest body of dietary data. Including coverage of disease incidence and prevalence, pathology, aetiology and measures of disease assessment and dietary risk factors, Nutrition and Arthritis is a clear, concise and user-friendly book gathering the latest research to bring the reader state-of-the-art information on:
- Micronutrients (e.g. vitamins C, D and selenium), food supplements and their potential to ameliorate arthritis
- Polyunsaturated fatty acids, with particular attention paid to n-3 fatty acids
- Glucosamine and chondroitin
- The value of exclusion, vegetarian, vegan and other dietary approaches
Nutritionists and dietitians, including those working in the health services, rheumatologists, orthopaedic surgeons, general practitioners, osteopaths and commercial organisations involved in the formulation of dietary supplements will find this book an important and practical reference source. Libraries in medical schools and universities and research establishments where nutrition, dietetics and food science are studied and taught will find it a valuable addition to their shelves.
He has been taking the glucosamine for a year. He is also on a diet and lost some weight over the year, as he was a little overweight. ( I also have a skinny cat, so I know it isn’t anything I am doing to make him fat;) Anyway, what else would work, if not that spray? I am nervous to try that spray without more info. The vet has not offered anything except fish oil, but the cat hates it, and won’t eat it…
I have been taking anti-inflammatory (Mobic) for about 2 years now and I have gained 30# even with exercising 4-5 times a week and dieting. I need to take them for my knees, but the excess weight is hurting me more than ever. I spoke to my doctor, but he changed my script to Voltaren, which is another anti-inflammatory and I am afraid to take it for fear of gaining even more weight. Does anyone have any suggestions?
and what exercises should I do, during this “fast”

There’s a popular myth that if you’re vegan or vegetarian, you have a higher chance of getting the disease gout (metabolic arthritis), which is a condition in which crystals of monosodium urate or uric acid are deposited on the articular cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues. Is there anyone who can help me disprove this?
I am taking Budeprion aka Welbutrin, Plaquenil, Etodolac aka Feldine and Loestrin (birth control) all for Ruematoid arthritis which has led to weight gain and difficulty to perform excersises needed to loose weight. If anyone knows or has any idea of a web site I could get the information please let me know Thank you in advance.
OK, I’m morbidly obese, (420 lbs.) and obviously need to lose weight. I recently had a stroke and i’m only 47. Ok, I know some of you will say, exercise, exercise, exercise but that isn’t the answer. I’m wheelchair bound and have severe arthritis so exercise is out of the question. Any suggestions?
I was diagnosed with RA 6yrs ago, I am currently taking Methotrexate and Humira. They are maintaining a low level of comfort, but it’s better than nothing, I am just curious what some other people are trying. Is anyone using a herbal remedy that is working, a certain diet that is helping them. My current treatments work, but it would’nt hurt to have some more options.
I’m trying to get off of medication I take for rheumatoid arthritis and a friend told me this is the way to go!! Do you juice very much of your food?? Thanks!!!
