Hi everyone, my dog is obese and as a result has arthritis. He has always eaten horrible processed dog foods from the bag, and after his last vet visit it was clear I had to make a change in his diet for the sake of his health and happiness.
I have a list of things that are going to make up his diet from now on…no more bagged manufactured food.
Some of these things include zucchini, broccoli, and carrots.
The question I have is whether or not I should feed him those specific vegetables raw or cooked.
Broccoli, Zucchini, and Carrots, should they be cooked or raw? Why?
I love how some of you presume to know more about my dog than the vet who I take him to.
I said these vegetables are going to be INCLUDED in his diet, not the only thing in his diet.
To the person who says dogs are carnivores and therefore shouldn’t eat meat you are wrong.
Dogs are scavengers not carnivores, their diets should be diverse and include other things besides meat. While meat is an integral PART of the diet, it is not the only thing they should consume.
I was diagnosed with RA when i was 16 yrs old. I have been treated for 2 years now after going 5 months without any medications. I am currently taking Enbrel, Methotrexate, Plaquenal and mass quantities of ibuprofen to help ease the pain. My joints still swell and turn red, and hurt extremely bad, especially my fingers. I have permanent joint damage to my wrist and my inflammation levels are elevated. Any adivce or herbal supplement tips would be great. I am desperate for relief.
I usually have to use Arthritis Tylenol almost every day to deal with my TMJ-related jaw pain. I’m 21, 6′6″, 195 lbs., and I often take more than the recommended dosage because it doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything. I have enough days where I don’t take it that it might even it out.
But how often can I take over-dosage amounts of it before it does actual liver damage? I’ve been told I can go over because the labels under-assign the dosage for liability reasons, but I’ve heard you need to be careful also.
I’m 23, around 5′2 and weigh around 110. I do not want to lose weight, but actually gain some if I can. I should also mention that my diet isn’t bad, since I know exercise and diet go hand in hand. But my main concern is exercise. I am not getting any right now and I don’t want to join a gym or buy workout videos. I also very easily become unmotivated when routines are too complex and you have to remember a bunch of steps (like “sets of reps”). I want to feel and become healthier and my stomach/lower abs are getting a little flabby so I want to target those, while also getting a good cardio.
So this is what I came up with:
10 minutes on an exercise bike as a warm up
10 minutes of bicycle crunches to target the lower body
10 minutes on the exercise bike again to wrap things up and end with cardio.
So a total of 30 minutes of exercise every day.
I was thinking of also climbing up and down the stairs in between the warm up and the bicycle crunches (like 5 min of stairs and 5 min of crunches), but I read that it can be bad on the knees in the long run and, although I don’t have it right now, arthritis runs in my family.
Now, as I already implied, exercise is not my field of expertise (not even close) so if what I wrote above as my plan is beyond dumb, then please feel free to make suggestions, but please be nice about it…thanks
I am a 29 year old mum of two. One is 6 the other is 18 months old. I was diagnosed recently with RA after having symptoms for almost a year, It is very hard raising children whilst constantly in pain and I am wondering if there is any sort of support out there for young mums with chronic illnesses.
OK well since I can remember I get these really bad pains on my arms and legs.. For example right now my left hand and arm are really hurting.. I dont know if it’s the bone or my muscles or what it is.. When I try to rub it for relief it kinda feels good but if i stop it hurts even more than before. I get this on the the softer spots on my hand like in the palm of my hand not my fingers though…. what can this be? and i’m 25 btw… and i’ve been getting these pain since i was a little girl ….thanks
Should you keep walking if your knee is slightly painful and try again and again
