I have a knee problem in which my knee dislocates if my leg twists wrong or if too much pressure is added to it. There is a specialist I was referred to that is out of state that I wish to see in order to get an accurate diagnosis. I have had many issues with the doctors in my area. The insurance provider I have now is very local and simply refuses to cover seeing a doctor out of state. I recently switched insurances providers to something more national (Golden Rule through United Health Care) in hopes of finally being able to see a specialist about a questionable bone deformity that causes my knee to dislocate. However, upon being approved for a plan, the following rider was added:

This policy/certificate does not cover any loss incurred by Jenna ******* resulting from any injury to, disease or disorder of the musculoskeletal components (bones, muscles, bursae, cartilage, ligaments and tendons) of the left knee, treatment or operation therefor and complications therefrom. This rider does not exclude coverage for any form of cancer.

Is there ANY way to overcome this rider somehow? This was the whole point of switching insurers! I am already starting to get pain in my knee and, after speaking with the specialist I wish to see over the phone, was informed that it would only lead to intense arthritis if remained untreated. I was hoping to schedule the surgery to correct this after getting a diagnosis by this doctor next summer during my school break. I am 18 right now. Is there anything I can do, even have the specialist’s office contact my insurance, that might override this amendment to my policy. It is so important that I get this taken care of.

Thanks for any help!!
I will be going out of state for college also which was another reason for switching insurers.

I just looked at Obama’s health care bill – according to this, by 2014 insurers will be forced to rescind exclusionary riders for all adults to cover pre existing conditions. So apparently, I will just have to wait until 2014 to get surgery? Yes, it was placed with an indefinite length of time.

However, I have the same problem with my right knee (my left knee is just the worst off)…..so I can at least get a diagnosis for that knee and surgery for that one next summer and then just wait three more years for surgery on my other knee.

Do I have the right idea here?

osteo arthritis, bursitus, ulna nerve degeneration , ulna bone degenration scolisois, endometriosis
my doc scripts me 2 vicodin a day and 2 ultram a day and its not workin , been 23 operations , and over 1o yrs for meds

I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this sudden onset of symptoms? he will walk and then all of a sudden – bag legs wobble and he is unable to continue – and stops. He does not seem to be in any pain and is eating and everything as normal, aside from this symptom. I will be bringing him to the Vet on monday, but just wondered if anyone had anything like this happen ? I do not believe it to be arthritis as it was SUDDEN, and he is not very old. He’s always been very healthy and was just at the vet for a yearly check up last week, all was normal then too.

ie one can tell within a week of starting the treatment that their condition is improving?

Why do people support that orginization?

I think their orginization is driving people away from veganism & vegetarianism.

They bash on people who own pets. So if I have a dog with a missing leg and arthritis and I saved it frim dying that’s bad?

What about see-ing eye dogs? Nope, bad bad according to PETA. No wool either.
PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing recommendation, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. And PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich told an animal rights convention in 2001 that “blowing stuff up and smashing windows” is “a great way to bring about animal liberation.

PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has said that “even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it.”

What about rats? Yes they are living animals with feelings but all rats do is harm people in the first place.

They can do the AIDS testing on rats.

PETA also targets young children with horrifing pamphelts. I mean yes it’s hypocritical to give a child a cute little stuffed cow and then have the kid eat mcdonalds for dinner.

But still instead of scaring the living crap out of the kid come up with some better way to get kids to be vegan.

A knife through a bunny isn’t going to make anybody vegan more give the person nightmares.

I’m a vegetarian myself so no need to rant about how i’m a disgrace to animals.

I injured my knee twice at work hitting it on a concrete floor. I continued to work after the first incident in July. But have been off 6 months since the last incident in September. I went to a W/C panel doctor for treatment. He performed arthroscopic surgery on my knee. And found a very significant chondral defect on my medial femoral condyle. Caused in his opinion by the trauma my knee received. He said he shaved it down and cleaned it up.
I recently went to a new orthopedic doctor of my choice. As I`m continuing to have pain and mobility problems after the surgery, and 6 weeks of physical therapy. This doctor ordered an MRI of my knee. Something the other one never did. The MRI reveals the following issues. There is small joint effusion. And a very small Baker`s cyst. There is mucoid degeneration of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus without evidence of discrete tear. Also chondromalacia of the patellofemoral compartment. Without evidence of a full thickness articular cartilage defect. And of course some arthritis.
The new doctor has given me a cortisone injection. And prescribed 6 more weeks of PT. He thinks I`ll be able to return to work with limitations, and wearing a padded brace. But I work as a corrections officer. And there is no full time light duty post. Works wants me to comeback yesterday. And without limitations. But my union and I don`t trust them if I continue to have problems!
My question is from the injuries I`ve descibed. Do you believe that my knee will only get worse as time goes on? I am 48 years old. And up until my injuries always exercised and kept in shape. Now I just do the PT and walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes a day. Its very frustrating! I never had any knee problems before. Its hard to believe all this can come from 2 good hits on my knee! Hopefully someone out there can shine a light on my injuries and predicament! THANKS!

I am about 168-175 lbs. I need to lose 50 or more because my doctor said it would be best, see I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and I was diagnosed with it in my feet, knees, hips, arms, and hands, fingers, ext. and my doctor told me it would be a very helpful thing to lose weight to relive some of the pressure of of my joints, the problem is I am only 15 and My family don’t have enough money to go buy special foods for me, I cant eat healthy and I just need some tips on exercises i can do and or any kind of diets i can do with normal home foods, not healthy foods from organic stores. please i really need some help and I would love some good answers thank you!!!

I just moved down south from New York. I have had scripts for pain killers, I have a lot of arthritis problems, so I am not a drug user. I find down south, at least where I live, it is harder to get pain killers, and I really do need them. Please any advise would be helpful. Again, just looking for relief for pain, if there are any web sites out there I would much appreciate it. Thank you

Need to reduce inflammation and deal with pain. This will be a long term thing.
