My husband and i are disagreeing. we have a 8 yr old mut thats 60lbs. My husband told me to give him an asprin (350mg) to help with arthritis and i dont think so. is it poisonous? and how much could kill a dog his size?

I went to my DR today and was told I was severly lacking vitamin D and have to take a huge dose of Vitamin D perscription that she gave me for 2 weeks. My question is what does it mean when your lacking Vitamin D? Will I have any symptoms? I have Arthritis so wondering if I will feel effects of more vitamin D and how? I am 26 yr old female.

My husband had a tibial plateau fracture a year and a half ago. Was non-weight bearing and in an immobilizer for a month. After that he started weight bearing and therapy. After 3 months of therapy, he stopped progressing and started to become worse. They stopped therapy and did a MRi and CT which showed nothing. At this point the first doctor released him to work. We switched doctors and the new doctor kept him off work. He worked as a land surveyor. He needs to walk long distances and need to be able to bend and squat down. He can’t bend his knee past 90 degrees and can’t walk long distances without pain. He knee also pops loudly with extreme pain. I can hear it across the room. He got another MRI this September which really didn’t show anything. It only said a possible healed tear in the meniscus. Present doctor doesn’t want to do anything else because he assumes Workman’s comp will deny any treatment because of the negative MRI. He also had a bone scan in the spring which led them to add the diagnosis of traumatic arthritis. We also tried pain management, which as a complete joke. They just prescribed medicine for nerve pain that the doctor said probably wasn’t the problem. The medicine isn’t working at all. Can something be wrong that they are missing? Should we push for a scope of the knee? Should we try for therapy again? Any other tests we should request? We feel like we are chasing our tails.
We asked the doctor for physical therapy and he didn’t want to do that either for fear it would be denied by Workman’s comp. We told him we wanted to try and he agreed but after a month and a half of nagging, his office still hasn’t sent the paperwork in for therapy to be approved.

ive had my dog blackie for 15 years we got her when i was one lol but anyways! i know shes olddd but what else could an old dog get?.. like arthritis and stuff

I’ve always worked hard to support my family despite difficulties due to my poor health. I have epilepsy, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and stage 4 endometriosis. I’ve been suffering recurrent infections for the past year, and have had three surgeries in one year (one of them being a total hysterectomy).

I see four different specialists, take many medications, and my condition is still unstable. My doctors have told me it is likely I will continue to require more surgery in the future and that there is no cure for my condition….that I will continue to be limited in what I can do.

I’ve been on medical leave more than I’ve been at work this past year because of multiple surgeries and hospitalizations due to infections, respiratory distress, etc. I haven’t even earned enough to live on. I’m considering going on disability, yet I feel like I’m giving up. I just don’t feel good about it, although my health is declining.

Any opinions on this? I don’t know what to do anymore

My daughter is 13 and has Lupus. She is experiencing bad arthritis in her knees for the past 2 weeks. Her doctor gave her a med. called naproxen but its not doing much for her. I also bought bengay to rub in the area but its not helping much either. She is missing alot of school because of this. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do . Maybe you know of this disease or you have it . Ive also used hot compress’ on her knees but that only gave temporary relief. Thanks to those willing to give their helpful advice.

Richard, the last operation was a triple arthrodesis at 13! The foot is pinned, and it was a result of a club foot! Hope that helps- and thanks for your help

There was an incident in my home recently. My brother is very ill, the police in my area are well aware of this, 2.5 years ago he stabbed someone, and he has not been called to court yet.

Last night, my brother snapped out due to withdrawal from opiates, he cut himself, threatened to commit suicide, and exclaimed he was going to kill me, my mother, and father.

He punched my disabled, elderly mother in the leg which was extremely painful for her, she gets spasms all over her body anyway, she cried when he hit her, and my Mother doesn’t cry unless it really hurts, she had to limp over to the bed. She has a collapsed/bulging/ruptured discs, rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathy and a neurostimulator in her back which has wires that connect to her spine, if he had hit her in the right place, he could paralyze her. We called the police, told them everything that happened, my brother had taken off, the officers returned later with paperwork for my mother, they went into his room to make him get up to talk to him, looked at his wrist, one of the officers said it was very deep. He then called an ambulance, my brother refused treatment, which the officer said is his right. My mother and I tried to get it thru their head that he is dangerous and has the characteristics of a murderer, that my brother listens to his music, and fantasizes about different ways to kill us, etc. My brother also told the cops he planned on finding acid and pouring it on my face. They wouldn’t arrest him.

They said the most they could do is tell him he isn’t allowed inside the house for the night, my mother told the officer he would just sneak back in the house thru his window, so the officer went back outside to talk to my brother, and I guess he told him to keep it cool and go to bed. When they left, he went ballistic again, exclaiming how he is an informant for the police, and he can do anything he wants, breaking items, more threatening, shoving me (he scares me so I leave the room.)

Moral of the story is… I don’t think this is right, a friend of mine told me in Delaware it is the law that if there is domestic violence in the house, they HAVE to arrest him. My parents have tried kicking him out, the last time they did he gave us a “warning” by breaking a window, he also said if they do he is going to burn the house down with us in it, I know people make stupid threats all the time, but this kid is capable. My brother is 25 years old.

If anyone could please help me find information on the Delaware Statutes, point me in the right direction, or who I can call to talk to that may be able to override this small police department, please. We are worried about our lives. They did tell her she can put out a warrent, but on the paper they gave her, they put down that the victim was not injured, they said it was nothing more then offensive touching, they also noted that no drugs were involved, even though my mother and I informed them he steals medication from both my mother, and father, and he is on several anti-psychotic medications, that he does not use properly. He takes so many he can’t keep his eyes open. (Today my mother is calling his doctor to inform him of the situation)

Please, any advice would be helpful.
They don’t care… Elsmere cops are…. I don’t want to say the word, but I think you’ll get my drift, they just don’t care. I called County, state… Attorney General, Victim assistance. No help, they say call Elsmere, The fact that they put on the paper that my mother was not injured, and no drugs were involved when I told the police he is an addict in withdrawal, concerns me. Cops never protected me…….the cops even lied on the paper they said his weapons were his hands and feet. I am calling them right now. This is so unfair, I don’t want to lose my mother.
