What causes those kinds of problems and how does one prevent themselves from getting them?

I’ve been reading a lot about glucosamine and people giving it to their big dogs or older dogs with arthritis. I have a 1 1/2 year old yorkie poo, she doesn’t seem to have any joint problems. Should i give her glucosamine as a preventative measure or is it not even needed?
12 years ago I broke my wrist rollerblading down a hill. I pretty much fell on my butt, but to break the fall I threw my hands down, and pretty much all the weight went into my right arm, so my arm broke a few inches above the wrist.
Starting a few years ago, my wrist would seemingly start hurting out of nowhere, the pain lasting up to a week. I could hardly move my wrist at all due to the pain, and I could barely put any weight on it either. I only noticed it once or twice a year.
At this point, the pain can last up to 2 weeks, but still usually around 1 week long. And now, on the top part of my wrist (opposite side of palm) theres a rock-hard lump that forms in addition to the other symptoms. The lump is about the size of a quarter. It seems like the lump goes away once the pain does, although it seems like this lump is slowly growing bigger.
I’m at the end of one of these occurrences, and although the pain is gone, the lump is currently still there. Is this arthritis? If so, what type?
tenderness. Help please?
I am a 26 year old female. I have had a swollen node in my armpit for over 3 years, one in my groin that has been swollen for over 5 years, and nodes in my neck that have been swollen for about 3 years.
In 2006, I was diagnosed with mono. Months after it had supposedly gone away, the node in the right side of my neck was over 3cm long & still growing, so I saw a surgeon & he was concerned about cancer and removed it immediately…it was examined by pathology and was benign. 4 months later, I was still not entirely healthy and had my tonsils removed.
Over the last few years, I am still tired quite a bit, sweat a lot and still have the swollen nodes. The one in my groin hurts even when I do not touch it, and the one in my armpit is very tender to the touch, but the ones in my neck to do not bother me.
I’ve had spleen & liver scans that came back fine, blood tests that came back fine, but this is still concerning me. Over the last couple years I still have days where I run a low grade fever for about a day. My doctor always puts me on antibiotics (which don’t ever take down the size of the nodes or cure the other symptoms). He has also done a chest xray to check for sarcoidosis and that came back clean.
My aunt has lupus & a host of other auto-immune diseases and my great grandmother died very young of rheumatoid arthritis.
I have been to a ridiculous number of doctors who keep telling me that there is absolutely 100% nothing wrong with me. I’ve also noticed an increasing number of tiny red pin-point spots on my chest, stomach & thighs. I’ve always had one on my chest for years, but the others are new.
I need a real answer, I need help. I am so tired of making doctor appointments that lead me nowhere.
I have had the one in my groin and armpit checked, my gyno said the one in my armpit could be due to the hormones in my birth control, so I stopped taking it and the size and tenderness of the node never changed. The one in my groin has been checked by my primary care and a surgeon. The surgeon said nothing to worry about, it’s not a hernia or something else, just a permanently swollen node. My concern is that over the last couple months it is becoming increasingly painful…
Also, I am 5′6″. My normal weight is around 118-120…over the last couple months I have dropped to about 113 without trying. I don’t know if I should be concerned about that as well or not. I have not had any appetite loss and eat full meals regularly…?
I have been recently diagnosed and did some research on my own and there is so much info out there. If you have RA could you let me know what has worked for you.
I had a bulls-eye rash in early September and have just now found out that I had some positive results on a Lyme test (positive IgM Western blot, I believe, but other results were inconclusive or negative). My doctor gave me Amoxicillin to take three times a day for 10 days. Is this sufficient to treat my Lyme. I spoke with someone with chronic Lyme and she said I would need 6 months worth of Doxycycline. I’m so confused and don’t know who to trust. A month after the bite I had migratory arthritis from my feet all the way up to my neck, but now it is just in my knees along with numbness in my legs. Any thoughts?
I’m thinking about switching my GSD from kibble to raw, because he might do better on it, but I’ve never fed raw before, so I have a lot of questions. 1) How many times a day to you feed a dog on raw? 2) What types of meat should I feed and are there any I should avoid? 3) Should I add veggies to the diet and if so what kind? 4) Should I give him bones and if so what kind? 5) Is there any special preparation involved in feeding raw? 6) Should I add any supplements to the diet? 7) How expensive is raw feeding?
My GSD is about 9 yrs old, has not had any problems with arthritis, but has chronic diarrhea (that no vet has been able to explain) and so has trouble keeping on weight.
Thanks
