I have a 13 year old chihuahua mix and she has arthritis in her hips. She just now started getting bad. I gave her half of a baby aspirin per vets advice but I want to know if there is anything else I can do. Will the aspirin help her move around better? She has always been a healthy happy dog until recently. I really don’t want to have to put her down yet. She still acts like a happy dog but moves a little slower.
She is not over weight or anything. I will talk to the vet about Rimadyl. He just told me to try baby aspirin and if it didn’t work then come back. So I am going to try it for a few days and see how it works for her. And I gave it to her with food so that it doesn’t upset her stomach.
I would like to better understand this disease. any info or cures would help!!! Please help me save the most important person in my life or at least tell me what can keep her from hurting!!!! thank you for your input and time
he live’s far from me ..i wondered if i could buy something help full and send him, without seeing Dr.

I have pain in the bones over my palm, more to the left side, when I put pressure on it from my palm (e.g. pushing myself up from sitting, etc.) Any ideas why this is happening? I’m 15, so I doubt it could be arthritis, even juvenile because I’ve never had this before.
1) What are the main symptoms of Arthritis?
2) When does it start.. (at what age) and is there a cause?
3) Does a “Blood test” really confirms whether a person have Arthritis or not and type of arthritis?
4) I came to know by reading other resolved Questions that its permanent. So are there any remedy(s) to lessen the pain — mainly for knuckles & joints of hands?
Thank you very much for all of your answers and your time.
Thanks Lacey & Ellen!
I do not have swelling or bumps, but i have so much pain at my knuckles, and wrists of both hands. BTW i’m 33. My doctor did not order for a blood test, but she prescribed me “Anaprox DS:550mg” i am not feeling better, my next appt. to the doctor is next friday. What questions should i ask her? Thanks again.
P.S: The pains started 2 months ago with stiffness in fingers at early morning. They used to relax under running warm water.
Now i am having pains all the day. I am not able to hold a pot of 3 cups cooked rice or even a coffee mug.
It’s considered chronic because the pain has been there in my L1 vertebrae for more than 3 months but the arthritis is considered mild, the pain a constant 4 and with much bending or moving goes up to a 7. If I spend the money to apply, do you think I would be allowed to get treatment?
