Are there medical guidelines or tests which determine which form of
arthritis a person has?

I have been told that there is an underlying problem to this disease such as the possiblity of Cancer. Is RA a seperate disease or does it stem from more seriouse health problems? I was also wondering if anyone has been to a Rheumatoligist and if so, what are some of the treatments that they use and do you feel as though it has helped? Thanks in advance for responding! :)

The term “Alternative Medicine” encompasses many forms, and elicits at least as many opinions. This authoritative, objective set is in tune with the subjects that matter to students and researchers, presenting four volumes of current, unbiased information on alternative and complementary medical practices. Covering all aspects of the subject—Therapies, Conditions/Diseases, Herbs/Plants and People—the “Gale Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine” identifies 150 types of alternative medicine being practiced today, including reflexology, acupressure, acupuncture, chelation therapy, kinesiology, yoga, chiropractic, Feldenkrais, polarity therapy, detoxification, naturopathy, Chinese medicine, biofeedback, Ayurveda and osteopathy. For the practitioner or interested patient, there are current training requirements, listings of organizations, as well as descriptions of treatments.

He has tried several prescriptions (enbrel, and so many topical treatments ive lost count) We have an extensive collection of lotions/oils/shampoos/etc. He has also seen dermatologists, tried tanning, light therepy, etc. etc. etc.

The patches cover his scalp, parts of his arms, back, chest, legs, and other “areas” if you know what i mean. It seems hes tried everything, i know hes utterly tired of the itching, peeling, and psoriatic arthritis hes dealt with for years. I want nothing more than to relieve him of all these things. I love him so much that my heart aches everytime i see him look in the mirror and sigh.

ive suggested several organic and naturopathic treatments, i know hes open to the idea, but im sure hes very skeptical. hes mentioned a few times that he doesnt want to “embarass me on the alter”, ive told him his psoriasis would never do anything of the sort.

Please help us, i want so badly for him to be comfortable in his own skin, any suggestion helps. Thank you!

ok so my dog is 4 year old black lab and his vet had said about a year ago that he had arthritis in his left leg. he had surgery because he had tore a ligiment. in his x ray it was shown he had arthritis in both knees of his back legs. so the left leg was ok and he only had surgery because of the tore ligiment. and now my dog only limps a lot after his walk or run outside, and after hes laid down to rest. so i want to know how to make SURE he has it. no theres nothing freaken wrong with him so dont tell me crap. im planning to take him to the vet soon to ask them for Rimadyl since they prescribed that to him after his surgery. we ran out so my mom was planning to buy some online but we decided to take him to the vet instead.
so tell me now, how do i know FOR sure he has it? i am planning to take him to the vet so dont send me crap like “OMFG TAKE HIM TO THE VET RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!!11″
jesus…

ok thanks
i did not buy my dog from a puppy mill. i actually went to the breeders house and met the parents of my dog. i also saw some of the other puppies and they all looked healthy. at the time the mom and puppies were living in their garage.

and the surgery he had on his knee was the LEFT LEG the limping is happening now on his RIGHT. the vet didnt even see it because after the surgery he wasnt limping. he started about 5 months ago.

Please, how can I tell if I have formulaic or arthritis? I know how bad my body hurts. I am depressed, but this pain causes me to be severely depressed.

I have a 13 year old english shepherd that has been eating purina pro plan for seniors. I am not sure how long since I just started caring for her, but I was wondering if I could switch her to a more organic diet with less carbs and maybe that would help her feel better. She is obviously older and moves slow as well as suffers from arthritis. I didn’t know if there was a dog food out there that might improve her quality of life. If not then I won’t change it since she is used to it already.
So far very helpful, didn’t really have a specific reason for higher protein just seemed to be what the more or whole organic foods have. Everyone I know has a different opinion about food for their dogs so in the end I thought I would post to get other opinions and I am glad to see some from DVM’s with answers too. I will ask her vet when we see her next.

I have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) . I recently read that cherry juice may help me with my pain. Has anyone done this, and does it work? And can you give me a price estimate….

I have a female mix who is about 14 years old. She’s in very good shape to be so old, almost in perfect health for an old lady but like all dogs who get older she has arthritis. I do know if it causes her a lot pain if she walks but sometimes she limps. Other times she a little slow or she stands in a strange manner. Then sometimes she may fall. I hate to see her limp around like that. Is there any medication she can take to help her legs?
